I just recently ordered my 8 and i have a friend that works for Mazda and he is hooking me up with the s-plan for mazda employees. My question is that I think the dealer might be trying something. He told me the s-plan gets me the 8 at invoice price plus $500. I ordered the 6 speed manual GT with spare tire kit, spoiler and in-dash 6 disc cd changer. The dealer told me invoice will probably be about 32000. I have done some searching on the net and have never seen that high a number for an invoice. If anyone knows about this s-plan or how much you paid it would be greatly appreciated. I don't recieve the car until early april so i have enough time to talk to the dealer about this.

cancel your order, they're screwing with you.

the s-plan price should be printed directly on the window sticker.

You should be able to see it documented. Don't listen to anything they "tell you". My understanding was ... 1% below invoice cost + $25 dollars and 20% off all accessories and add ons. That's what I got.

I purchased mine in Dec using S-Plan and since I know the owner of the dealership he informed me that S-Plan is just under invoice but that Mazda runs money back to him after the sale. I purchased a 6-Speed, GT Pkg, Rear Spoiler, Appearance Pkg, 6-Disc Changer, Navigation, and Rotary Accent Pkg and my pre-tax number was $31,905. The sticker was $35,400. I also ordered the Car Cover(which is really cool!), Lojack, and Yakima Bike Racks, and the Strakes. I think the dealer is working you abit and also if your friend is getting S-Plan for you then he should provide you with a print out showing the Sticker and S-Plan pricing.

Good luck!

Someone had a link a while back to the S-plan price schedule. I printed it but put off going over it carefully because I had already bought my car and didn't really want to know how I did on price. I can't seem to find the post, but found the printed form. I have Price Schedule No. 2003-04, Effective October 17, 2003. Prices below are S-plan vs. MSRP:

AT Base $23,252 25,180
MT Base $24,633 $26,680

Destination other than Alaska: $520 $520
Alaska $680 $680

2GT AT Grand Touring PKG $4,043 $4,700
2TR AT Touring $3,097 $3,600
2SP AT Sport $1,635 $1,900
1GT MT Grand Touring PKG $3,441 $4,000
1TR MT Touring $2,409 $2,800
1SP MT Sport $1,032 $1,200

SSU Alarm Shock Sensor Upgrade $48 $60
FLA All Weather Floor Mats $45 $60
2AP Appearance PKG $775 $970
CAS Cassette Player $160 $200
CGN Cargo Net $32 $40
CGT Cargo Tray $40 $50
CGC Collapsible Cargo Carrier $48 $60
CDC 6-Disk Changer $400 $500
MND Moonroof Wind Deflector $36 $45
NV1 Navigation System $1,721 $2000
RSW Rear Wing Spoiler $285 $355
2RP Rotary Accent PKG $111 $139
STR Spare Tire Kit $320 $395
MGB Splash Guards $136 $170

Please note these prices are old... but are probably close. Dig around, you should be able to find the newest prices. Getting a copy of the actual schedule should make dealing with a dealership easier on your nerves.

I had assumed that the S-plan was a gimmick and that anyone could bargain down to the S-plan prices who did their homework. I did my homework. I didn't beat the S-plan. It's a good deal.

The S plan is suppose to be about $20 under invoice. My fully loaded car had a sticker of $35,400. And it was about, don't remember exact, $32,400 plus taxe, lic, etc.

And yes, there is an S-plan price sheet that shows everything listed, and you should get it with your order.

Comment: If the friend works for Mazda then he should be on the E-Plan that is somewhere like 1,000 below the S-Plan. The S-Plan is for employees of Ford or other participating companies.

No problem. That'll put that goober in his place. :)

Also, S-Plan is non-negotiable.

All you should pay: car + options + destination + taxes. No haggling.

So i'm heading up there on saturday with all this new info thanks guys, you saved me a ton a money and now i might have a navigational system put in because of it. I owe ya one

WTF? I was told that I can't use the s-plan on the rx-8 only on other mazda cars. The dealer told me that the best he could do was sell the car for 1000 over invoice.

Black Dragon, with any luck you may find the car instock. If you search thru the Mazda website you can find the exact car you want at all the dealers in any specfic mileage limit you want to look at.

Ok... then talk to your friend at Mazda and get them to offer a "Moonroof Delete" option on the RX-8 GT package.

:D

I agree about the snow, salt and slush. I have managed 2k miles since Dec by picking nice days and weekends to drive. I have not been rained on yet or even driven it on wet roads. I need to go ahead and drive in the rain, get it dirty and just get it over with.........

Sea Ray-
You're missing half the fun staying out of the snow!

Black-Dragon- I was about to post the S-Plan schedule, but I see someone beat me to it... aren't these forums great! I was going to tell you to run from that dealer, as my '8 was damn near fully loaded (~$36k sticker) and S-Plan ran me around $32 and change.
