All you do is place the washers in between the hood supports and the hood. This will create a gap

Some people just want to mod shit for the sake of modding something.

Honestly when doing my single oil cooler mod I realized just how much thought went into forcing air into various parts of the engine bay and this mod would affect how all that works.

^yeah MSCAMP- thats what i was thinking as well... +1... but i wouldnt do it... it only looks good on an aggressive looking car... not a stock one...

mscamp02

even a modded out rx8 with a real aggressive stance I dont think it will look good. Maybe a car that for some reason under the hood requires the hood to be raised a half inch or so I could understand the logic behind it but other than that....just doesnt look right

^ture... like clearance for turbo piping, or a wastegate, or strut bars, .... that shouldnt be a problem though.. with our cars... i mean our little 1.3l doesnt take much space and with relocation of the battery and removal of the air box... 1 should have enough space for DUAL turbos.. and a top mount INTERCOOLER like FD's sometimes favor....

Yea I guess there really shouldn't be a point with our cars....guess for some reason some people just like the way it looks....dont know why though:dunno:

I'm sorry; I'm all for mod's that look good or better add functionality, but this one is just weird. Basically an ill-fitting hood. imho of course.

I understand that airflow is important, but there are so many better ways of doing it. Vented hoods for one thing... revising air flow panels in the engine bay (ones that are under the battery and the air intake)... or fixing your cooling system/upgrading it.

Free mods are great, but not all free mods are useful.

Yeah especially mods that people pull out of their asses with no data to back up. If you like the way it looks then by all means, do it. but it just bugs me when people claim it does this and that without data to back it up.

I personally wouldnt think it does because there has never been any support for it yet

Ugh, I'll pick up an obdII reader within the next couple of weeks and post up the results, for better or for worse. Like I've said time and time again, I believe this modification will only have any positive effect if both the battery box/tray and intake box/tray are removed and the hood is high enough. Anyways, I'll post back here with results. I had the mod for a while but removed it when I picked up a vented hood. After selling the hood, I had a different vented hood on order but that all fell flat on it's face... I guess we'll see what happens? My car, compared to stock, seemed to have noticeable lower bay temp but I do have a couple other things done.

Oh, and you would have to enjoy wasting money to actually purchase a "kit" to do this.
