rear passenger exit?

well, im sure all u noticed that the front doors have a tendency to close themselves. yesterday, me and my copilot get out and completely forget to let the two people in the back out. is there an easy way for the people sitting in the back to open the doors? im assuming theres no trick involved, but it wouldnt surprised me if Mazda thought of this as well :D

so, can they get out on their own?

i dont think so, i mean i have tried it and its pretty difficult getting the front door open from the back seat and opening the back door at the same time.

Passenger side can reach for the seat reclining handle and push the seat down to reach the door handle. Driver side is pretty screwed

rear passenger just grabs the black web tab at the bottom back of the front seat to tilt it forward. then opens the front door and then the back. alternately if they are small enough-i can do it- they can just crawl into the front seat from the back and get out that way.

also if the pass thru is unlocked they could open the pass through get into the trunk and open it with the emergency handle and climb out

I have a button on the back of my driver's seat, for God knows what reason, that moves the seat and back forward. The annoying thing is it works whenever the speedo reads 0 so at a stop light someone in the backseat can push me up against the steering wheel... Stupid button, I'm considering disconnecting it.

Copilot? I didn't realise it took two people to drive this thing!

First time I ever saw that button, now I need to check mine and hope to god I don't have that button

OP, the front doors have certain angles where if you exceed it, they will stay open. Granted, those angles are huuuuge, but they will stay open

The button is an 09 and up feature... possibly only on GT... not sure. Like seat memory..

*grumbles about buying the last 08 on the lot in March and missing out on the new features*

If I carried a lot of passengers in the rear, I'd get one. Also if I drove by a lot of water, I'd get one too. I've seen from multiple tests on TV that the sooner you get out of a car that goes into water the better. But none of those apply for me.

1. Scream
2. Bash out windows
3. Scream
4. Call 911
5. Squeeze between front seat backs, drive away while gesturing to owner.

Okay, the problem isn't that rear passengers can't exit. As others have noted, the guest on the passenger side can get out fairly easily; the one sitting behind the driver can exit with a bit more difficulty.

No, the real issue is that knowing how to get out IS NOT INTUITIVE. Consider showing rear passengers "how to exit" when you're about to leave them in the car—much like a good motorcyclist tells his/her passenger to lean into turns and not touch the exhaust pipe.

But that's true for 2+2 coupes as well, it's not something that only happens for the 8.
