Has anyone had to change the stock tires out yet, due to wear? If so, at what mileage was the change?
If you haven't changed your tires, when do you expect you'll have to change them judging by the current wear on the tread?

I'm guessing somewhere around 15K miles based on my last car which had the same OEM tires. Those Bridgestone Potenzas wear out astonishingly fast. I've seen people need to replace them as soon as 8000 miles of standard everyday use.

What is the proper rotation order for the OEM tires? Are they uni-directional so only back/front rotation?
Proper tire rotation is to swap the front right with the rear right and the front left with the rear left.

My tires have almost 9000 miles on them and I dont think they are gonna last more than another 5 or 6.

I've got about 11500 on the stock tires and they are toast. I do abuse them though. I plan to replace them with Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions as soon as I get paid again. Check out Tire Rack for ratings and reviews. The S03's appear to be a much superior tire for the same price. Better treadlife and handling all around compared to stock.

Makes you wonder why Mazda didn't put these on from the get go :p Must be Bridgestone had a boat load of the RE04s and sold them to Mazda at a fire sale price.

Look into the Pirelli Pzero Nero's, also. In a Tirerack comparison they got better wet and dry lap times than the Pilot Sport and the S03. They're about 4 lbs lighter per corner...
The RE040 comes on a lot of cars stock... 350Z, Mazdaspeed Protege, the 8, and overseas the ITR and the STi. But yes there are better tires for the money. I think companies like Pirelli just don't have any good "in"s with car manufacturers.

I can't find the Pzero Nero tires that you speak of. At least not one's that fit the RX8 wheel size. What I did find was the Pirelli Pzero Rosso, which doesn't have as good of handling, wet, or dry traction than the Pole position.
Where are these Nero tires? I will go search more myself.

Found them. It looks to me that none of the Nero's will fit stock RX-8 wheels.
