lol, yer leavin' yerself wide open with a question like that.

But I'll be nice... maybe you can install homelink, either upgrade the mirror or buy some aftermarket thing. It'll be much smaller and less obtrusive than a big 'ol thing. Check out www.homeautomation.com; they have stuff like that. One of them, you wire to your headlights. All you do is flash your lights and the garage door opens.

Edit: Sorry, that link sux. I don't know what they did to their catalog. Search around online, you'll find something.

Buy a nice small opener manufactured after 1960 and consider it an accessory for the RX-8. :p

Nix that garage door opener. The Homelink option is the only way to go.

:D

Maybe the glove box or the opening in the center console behind the cup holders?

I placed mine in the overhead sunglasses receptacle, since I never leave my glasses in the car.

Homelink, man...Homelink! if you're afraid to venture into the 21st century and it's as big as you say it is, i suggest the driver's door pocket with something to hold it in place...

I have a "Clicker" 3 button after-market remote control. It can be attached to your keychain (it's really that small!) and can control up to 3 garage doors. I think I picked it up at Home Depot. It fits nicely in the ash tray. I will add a pic later this week once I return from my trip if you'd like.

Uh yeah... Be nice right... Do you have the homelink system. If so follow half of the suggestions on here and use it with a smile.

I've got the homelinke too. But in the past when dealing with this, I bought a very small universal remote from Sears. It's like 1" x 2" x 3/8". Although I don't see it on their web site. You can fit it almost anywhere. If you're interested and can't find it, let me know. I'll be happy to look on the device for manufactuing informaiton and post a pic.

Found a link.

Flatso, you can get all kinds of homelink gimmicks that will work with your door opener, even a keyring fob, mirror attachment, something unobtrusive. Just like homelink built into the the GT package, once you have it you can program it to replace your remote.

Do us all a favor and lose that big ugly brick strapped to your sunvisor. These visors (and the '8 overall) are so clean and streamlined, then you velcro a whale to it. It's almost a crime against nature. Listen to what everyone's telling you, shop around a bit, find a nice homelink device that appeals to you and trash that remote.

For gods sake, replace that old opener. Mine did not work with my XK8 so for $160 I replaced the whole monty. The wireless remote kepad would have been $45.

Get with the program, the openers on your mirror are a Godsend. Use them.

Does the RX-8 not come with a homelink mirror? I would have thought it would.

The Touring and GT packages include the homelink autodimming mirror. Base and Sport do not.

Here's the Clicker I mentioned

I found the remote I got. You can even order it online from www.homedepot.com. Just do a search for garage door and it will be on the list. It fits great in the ash tray!

oops....the CLT1 isn't the opener in the attached picture....it's bigger and only has two buttons.....the one pictured is the one I have.....I'll keep looking....

In the mean time....you can see all kinds of garage door remotes at:

I'm getting real confused. Just find something tiny. Enough of cluttering up your beautiful car with these bricks. You want something huge and obtrusive, drive a Seville which has room for a whole collection of bricks.
