RX8 totaled Airbag fail to deploy!

Hi everyone, I need some advice about this. Last Monday on the 19th I got hydroplaned and lost control, my 04 rx8 wreck on the sidewall on the freeway roughly 55-60 mph, my rx8 front left side got smashed in like claydoh. I will post the picture of the damage later today. my side airbag deployed but the front didn't not! since the damage is front and left side. isn't the front airbag should deploy too?
Can I get some professional opinions please! Thank you everyone!

Did you hit your head on the wheel? If not, then the main airbag shouldn't have deployed.

I didn't hit my head at the wheel, but from my experience in the past I have got into a similar problem in about 3-4 years ago, my audi A4 got hit in the front some lady reverse into my front with 20mph in the parking lot my a4 front airbag deployed. It wasn't fast and my head didnt hit the wheel either. I don't think my 8 is trying to punish me for causing the accident, i mean this is the first time i got into an accident that is my fault.
I want to ask you guys if you guys think there is a possibility that my rx8 have airbag failure. Or, do any one know that if somebody with the rx8 got into a collision but the airbag didn't deploy. Because I have talk to a few people my friends, 2 auto collision body-shops, and a California highway patrol, from the police report they think the airbag should have deploy.

The system is smart enough to know what airbags to deploy in an accident, if the front airbag didn't deploy then I'm sure it wasn't supposed to at the angle you hit.

My point is, if your head didn't go into a solid object, then you didn't need your airbag, did you?
That is why it didn't deploy.
Be happy that you drove a car with such a capable SAS instead of taking a powder burn to the face for no good reason.

Also, I'm just going to come out and say it.

This post sounds like you are looking for excuse to go after Mazda for compensation. I also have a sneaking suspicion that your tires probably didn't have proper tread on them.

You should also note that the front airbag sensor is located on the front bumper support. It's actually attached to the support using a small plastic clip.

For the front airbag to have gone off, you would need a full frontal impact to reach that sensor. Hitting the guardrail indicates to me that your collision wasn't full frontal, but instead an angled impact.

MM is right. Be glad that your system is smart to have not deployed when unnecessary. Airbags have broken my nose before and it's not fun.

[QUOTE] yeah, I guess you(MazdaManiac) are right, its just that it really raise the concern of the safety issue, since I wrecked my RX8 I am going to try a different sport car. I really like this rx8 community here, people are really nice and I made a few friends here. Since not a lot of people will wreck their 8 because all 8 are good and skill driver hehe, but sometime just **** happen. And even when it happen mostly are dent and scratch, but intern of a freeway spun out like 65-80mph will the air bag pop out? not much people been in that experience, and I don't want anyone here to find out about it after got badly injure. Just want everyone here be safe even if worst accident happen(knock on wood). People here are just too nice!
BTW I was pretty badly injure that I dont know if my head have hit the wheel because the impact was so strong I lost conscious and woke up with 12-14 stitches on my ankle!

You would definitely know if you hit the wheel.
If you survive the contact, it will leave quite a reminder.

Yeah you are right, its an angle impact that hit was at the left front headlight, but the thing is that its more angle to the front instead of left side, because the hood is bent backward not side.
I think i might hit the wheel because if i can lost conscious, that mean I might get a 55mph-65mph heavy straight punch without glove. I mean I am not a physic major, but isn't suppose to be a common sense that both should be deploy just for the safety?

The injury is so bad that i lost part of the short-term memory, I am a mix-martial artist and I have been punch the face before and if it knock hard enough its enough to put a person to a nap and that person will wake up without knowing what happen.
