Insurance will most likely total loss it, get a new one. The end.

Not chargeable so your rates shouldn't be affected.

This is assuming you had full coverage.

my car was submerged in water this past weekend while the car was still running (huge storm in jersey), stalled after a few seconds and then wouldn't start. had to get it towed to the nearest mazda dealership, fortunately i'm still under warranty so the roadside assistance was free, the number to call is 877 238 8172 and give your VIN, theyll tell you if youre still under warranty, if not call triple AAA. in a matter of 4-5 hours my car was working fine again, and best of all the cost of engine repair was completely free. at one point i thought i would have to replace the engine or total the car, but after the techs at Wayne Mazda checked the car (i told them the car would crank but not start) they told me the intake had sucked water into the engine and something had to be 'decarbed' and 'zoom-zoom vaccummed' and some other repair had to be done. the guy told me it would have been about $1000 to repair if i wasn't under warranty.

take home point: don't drive through massive puddles especially if you have an intake in your car.

do not think you have to total the car or get a new car, the above posts are wrong, unless you accelerated for more than 3-4 seconds within the actual water you should fine and the car WILL run again!

If you drove through a puddle, you should be okay.

If your car was covered with water, from a flood or something, and totally filled with water, you're fcked.
