juz a quick update after a exciting day:

OMV ard 35k, come with sunroof, 6 disk changer (not bose) with ok radio reception (no prob getting 91.3, 99.9, 95.4 etc), electric seat (driver side only) & guess the rest should be quite standard.. Shoot me any qns if u hav on d MM's 8.

All in all, is a very exciting car to drive. It can race ur heartbeat faster too... ;)

to add on, MM only offer single tone interior for red 8.. yellow 8. Only one colour come with duo colour interior (sorry cant rem which one).

there is airbag within the front 2 seats as well.....

still doing the running in, only manage 2 clock 100+ only. But this baby sure generate lots of heat... i mean real heat. can feel d chassis is warm, even the cup holding along d centre rim is warm too. Got advice from MM to divert the aircon to both face & foot well...

now doing some fuel consumption tracking.. will update soonest...

how long before the car runs in? hee, sorry to ask such a stupid qns but i know nothing about cars. and also my cup holder feels warm too after i drive, is it normal?

The car will feel warm everywhere. So if you buy tua pau, remember to keep it at the cup holder to keep it warm :D

normaly run in period is d first 1000 km, after the first oil change. During this period, just dun push the rpm too high & too fast. Just take it as a V... be gentle... ;p

for info, i manage to clock about 7.5 km/liter & that will translate to about 480 on a 61 liter tank!!! ofcourse u muz drive like a lamb... not a wolf.. still waiting for my 1st 1000km to reach....

let me just briefly desc how i do the consumption tracking: top up till full tank, reset trip meter. When the needle hit half tank, go for another full tank. From the amount of liter been pump in & the trip travel, you can guage the lm/liter liao... personally feel that this give a better guage as compare to the full tank method...

Heard that Mazda having a roadshow at Suntec wif the RX8 models.... where they get the cars for exihibit???? and i have to wait till early July :S and also heard that ordering has reach september shipment..

As long as you calculate off the amount of gas you put in again should be rite.
Normally, it hit about 200km at half mark, but only manage another 150km more after the half mark, so its miss-leading that cause of the 200km, one would get 400km by the end of full tank which is not!

since it is an auto...powerwise is so so ...but i really enjoy the ride!
i am getting a 7km/litre, with relatively low rpm >4k rpm
is that normal?

Hi Shirube! Me drive auto too.

You may want to try the tiptronic/steptronic (whatever... the manual gear thingy). You can leave it in first gear & floor it until red line - quite good! :D

But if you do the above, kiss consumption bye bye. Me worse record (to-date) is less than 250 km on a full tank...

But whatta blast! You should attend the next meet so we can chat! There are a few other autos too! Cheers!

I just got mine 3 days ago....believe me, the wait is worth it. An auto as well (am really no good anymore using a stick). Now thinking of changing to 17" . Felt that his would have a balance tire profile and rim with the car size. I know most people would like even to change to 19" but personally, I already think 18" is too large.

SO, for those who wanted to change wheel to either 18" or 17", been doing a little calculation on diameter of wheel so that it stay as close as to the original (so that it won;t screw up the speedometer that much):

225/55/16" - 25.7 " Original basic auto
235/40/18" - 25.4
225/45/18" - 25.97
225/40/18" - 25.08
225/40/17" - 24.08
225/45/17" - 24.97
225/50/17" - 25.86 Looks like this combination is ideal.

If u wanna spot a mm RX, look out for the moon/sun roof & headlight washers instead. PIs have dual tone leather seats too!

what sort of engine oil are you guys using? the book (the jap manual) reccomended 0w20 SL grade which is a bit thin...

Order a Velocity Red from mm a couple weeks ago. I have 2 tone red leather seats. But that increased my booking fees to 21k. The delivery date also later. Estimated in october. Sigh.....

Hey Sone i am not sure is it 55-litre but i know one full tank if no discount and pumping shell 98 before price rises is ard $70. anyway mine use to run on 16 inch, also running ard 360km but lights will come out. After that i change to volks racing and i am still getting ard there.

Yo rclios! Me didn't know about the switching off of the dsc & traction. Thanx pal - me will try! Anything to save $! :p But then again, with the way me drive, me need all the help me can get :D

The DSC would actually control brakes etc if it senses that your driving pattern is adnormal. With DSC off, your car would tend towards oversteer slightly(good for racing and drifting). But if you are cornering at high speed with DSC on all the time, suggest you slow down a bit and get used to doing it without it as it can feel very different. Haven't tested on RX8 so couldn't comment but RX7 performed some acrobatics on me unexpectedly. My heart was pumping hard and it was certainly not excitment then...lol

any idea if there is lta approved after market exhaust.

I just got my ride when I returned to SG about 2 weeks ago and straight away on course again so no time to get anything done on my 8. Anyway, I don't intend to do much to it. I know MM has an original Mazda sports exhaust for the 8 which I'm pretty sure would be LTA approved but I'm not sure if it's all that good to be worth paying the $1395 price tag or if MM would even entertain PI cars. Anyway, I enjoy the quietness, don't you?

I think I'm pretty immune to modifications. I like my cars (near) bone-stock. :p

I'm looking out for someone who's done an oil-catch tank though. I'm having problems finding a place under the bonnet to fit it.

The gap near the washer fluid is too hot and most likely renders it ineffective. :o

Neon has the oil-catch tank installed in his car, think he kinda put it where you mentioned, against the firewall. I thought i remembered him saying that the tank was kind of waste of $$.
Anyway, I always thought an oil-catch tank only work with the turbo, why would one need it on the NA car. Could you explain the need for one thanks!

The Renesis runs at a high temperature and our climate is hot and humid. During high-revs, expect alot of blow-bys through the PCV. This is especially true when you use engine oils that have low flash points or high volatility. :(

The 8 has an E-throttle. Looking under the bonnet, I dread the effort required to service my throttle body. Large accumulation of oils and subsequently dirt will reduce the throttle performance if not damage it over long term. :(

I have my doubts about the sulphur content of most oils and petrol available in SGP and MY. This happens to be one of the killers of E-throttle (and high pressure piezoelectric injectors in GDI engines) :o

Didnt know the car got so much attention.
One guy actually was at my PI earlier than me on Sunday, standing outside the gate and kept phoning the agent to come down ASAP. Seemed more anxious than me.
Further more some guy popped by today and wanted to order red but soon after arriving started to have second thoughts.

White is such a pure and powerful color. Lovely car man. Which PI you got it from? My PI required 10k deposit in order to place an order.....else would have gotten it. :)

That's great bkrx8. What colour did you order? Once you get yer car, if want to consider options such as tint, polish, ICE, engine, body mods, etc, then have a scan through these boards...lots of really excellent advice to be found :)

i will be a proud owner of a MM RX8 in Jan 2005... hope to noe more of u guys. mine is black colour with two tone leather. actually i am still a greenhorn in rotary engine and in many aspects of this car. hope to learn more from u guys.

will be gg tokyo in jan 05 for biz trip and attend the auto saloon show there and get some performance enhancements.... :D

today saw a t. grey rx8 with GT spoiler along telok blangah gg towards harbour front...... if not wrong no. plate shld be 2484. i wonder if it belongs to anyone here???? i strongly believe it does!!... :)

Actually I won't be in Sing that day Woot, otherwise would love to participate especially since I met Han at the last meet up and enjoyed talking to him and checking out his ride with the Defi gauges....very helpful guy.
