Is there a test method for coils? Ohm or something similar? I'd like to test them before buying new if possible.
20k miles on the car and upper rpms don't seem as strong as they should.

The problem with the OEM coils is that they don't seem to last long.
The problem with Mazda's specs is that even when a coil is within spec it may still be a problematic coil.

Exactly. Your best bet is to just upgrade your coils and wires.

:uhh: I gotta get me some of those! Think my scale model needs an upgrade, it's got a misfire and flashing CEL as it moves across the desk! :cussing:
Think it comes with a mini BHR sticker as well?

Optical TDI- Since you live in Cleveland and I'm 20 minutes away down in Streetsboro, I can look at them for you and show you how to test the ignition (I have an inline timing light too).
I also have spare coils we can swap to test out also.

LOL Funny guys. Obviously the 'cleaner view' is not my pict, but compared to my in-bay shot I think the OP gets the picture (pun intended). ;)

Did you notice a difference with the BHR coils? Those are about $500 vs new stock ones for $130. If the difference is very subtle, then I will just buy new stockers every 2 years.

The BHR coils def make a difference and last a lot longer than the OEM ones.
