Hey guys my local car shop ordered a Borla exhaust... there are only 3 local area owners here including me.
He has it for $699 (so $700), and then they charge an hour on instalation which i think is... i dont know, but then end cost is $815!

im not so sure exhaust should come down to that much!

Is this really what i gotta pay? What are my options?

You could probably save $150 if you ordered through a number of Vendors.

Check it out:

Yeah. You can find it for 550 shipped most places. Then if you cant do it yourself, most any shop with a lift can do it for 50 bucks.

I thought so, i was checken it out all over.

So if i order it online i can just take it to a shop and get it installed right? Would my dealer do this?

Probably, but best to ask your dealer. It varies. They also might charge a bit more for labor, and this is something any shop can do.

I've got one, still haven't had it installed. I think I'm going to wait until spring. Anyway, my local dealer refused to put it on when I called and asked. They said they only install Mazda parts. So, I'm taking it to another shop where I'm sure they'll charge much less. :p

The install is actually pretty easy to do yourself. I had mine done in about 2 hours, and I'd say I'm of average mechanical ability. But there is no shame in having a pro do it either.

yeah man the rx7 store hooked me up w/ the exhaust system and shipping for 580....then go to a local muffler place and they'll install it for like 50 bucks in 30 mins. So whatever hookup u thought u had for 815....turn the other way buddy. BTW i am loving the borla, i have a problem to not listen to my radio anymore....it's so relaxing! :)

Be aware that the box the Borla ships in will NOT fit in your car so you may want to have it drop-shipped to your installer.

But I agree with you - have it dropped shipped to the installer.

dick carlson, yeah the box they shipped the exhaust in is HUGE, and even reclining the seat won't help. but don't bother gettin it shipped to the place where u want to get it installed. just open the box and take it apart. EVERYTHING fits in the trunk
yours truely........

i think i got an extra 50 miles approximately on this tank of gas w/ the new exhaust in.

The box will fit inside the car if you are properly motivated to push a little :D You also have to balance it on your shoulder while you drive so you can shift gears.

In retrospect I would take it out of the box and put it in the trunk but I was so excited when the box showed up at my office that I wasn't thinking straight. ;)

GUYS i just talk to raciing beat manager about the exhaust system there were testing on the dyno and he told me the best one out there they thought material wise was borla now the bad news the borla exhaust on there dyno only gave them 5 extra horse powers he says he dont care what borla cliams, they are working on there exhaust which they say its going to have the same hp as borla maybe one more hp 6 but dont look for any bigger gains wow what a disapointment for me,another thing he says was that the k n air intake did make the horsepower cliamed but he says its very loud there working on one with will be much more quiter.i hope borla can come up with an answer

An answer to what? Their exhaust works well, sounds nice, looks great. What do they need to fix? And no offense to Racing Beat, but wouldn't you consider them a little bias?

Stick with Borla. Looks nice, sounds nice, cheaper then most and can't beat that "Million Mile" Warranty!

I agree Borla's worth every penny. Works good, sounds awesome, "relatively" inexpensive. But then, the Greddy is nice too. Guess it all comes down to which tip design you like better.

I agree as well about the Borla. even if it is a little lower on H.P. as originally thought, I like the durability, especially with the added heat we will put on the cars with Maurice's piggybacked staged upgrades.

I know stage1 heat will affect the cat, but is the stock exhaust really in any danger?

anyone got a link for the borla exhaust and greddy exhaust?

Baller

You must put them all together and look......Borla is a great performer...but it sure does not look the best...
I think Greddy is a good choice.
