View Full Version : Fly Eagles Fly...
klegg 01-11-2004, 09:18 PM You know, I like favere as much as anyone, but the eagles are clearly a team of destiny..
How come the linc does not have a roof?
Because God wants to see him team play...
Good thing Donovan had such a good 2nd half, 'cuse god the first half stunk..
pot8r 01-11-2004, 09:22 PM Way too close for comfort. OT is fun to watch but doesn't bode well for next week. The offencive line needs to give him more time.
RX-GR8 01-11-2004, 11:45 PM thats about as close as a team can come to losing and still win. 4th and 26 yards and they get a first down? are you kidding me? 3rd and 10 with 10 seconds to go no timeouts and instead of kicking the tying FG reid calls a pass? if mcnabb gets sacked and he almost did its game over. they will probably blow the panthers away but it will be tough against the patriots or colts.
Astor 01-12-2004, 12:03 AM All the games were good this weekend, even though my beloved Titans lost.
Senseny 01-12-2004, 12:29 AM Thank you lord.
Wow. fifteen years of watching Eagles ball . . . fifteen years of drunken gambling owners, insane loud mouth idiot coaches, fifteen years of watching the Zebras make sure that we never beat the spread, fifteen years and before this season the one image which has stuck with me the most is Randall Cunningham throwing a deep long ball into a fog that had blown into the stadium only minutes before to knock us out of the play-offs. That was the last time before this that I thought the Eagles had a real chance at a superbowl ring.
OH yeah, FLY EAGLES FLY!!!!!!!!!
RX-GR8 01-12-2004, 01:00 AM Of the 125 minutes the Packers and Eagles played this year, the Packers only trailed for 27 seconds total in both games, and lost both by a total of six points. The Eagles were 4 of 17 on third down (24%), while the Packers were 10 of 19. McNabb was sacked 8 times to Favre's 1. The Eagle run defense gave up 210 yards rushing, 156 of those to Ahman Green on just 25 carries. The Packers held the Eagle running backs to 14 rushes for 57 yards. Akers missed an easy 33-yard field goal. The Eagles fumbled three times, the Packers never fumbled once. The Eagles had never won a game under Reid when they trailed by more than 10 points. The Packers had the Eagles pinned at 4th and 26 deep in their own territory with a minute plus remaining.
Sounds like destiny to me.
klegg 01-12-2004, 11:22 AM As bad as he looked the first half, Donvan set one NFL and 2 team records:
1: most playoff rushing yards by a QB (will stand until the falcons make it to the playoffs)
2: Most postseason td by an eagles QB
3: Surprisingly, most post season wins by an eagles QB
He showed all of his talents that second half, and to think they booed when he was drafted
btw, did you all see dawkins at the end of the game, I swear he was weeping...who says the game does not matter to the players.
NAVILESRX8 01-12-2004, 11:40 AM All I know is, I love Donovan Mcnabb. I was pulling for the Eagles. I love them, I hope they win it all, that is if the Patriots don't make it to the Superbowl, wich they should. I don't think they are destined to win it all, although I do think they will make it to the Superbowl.
Patriots are gonna win it all. Show all the haters that the last Superbowl they went to wasn't a fluke.
English 01-12-2004, 12:27 PM E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!!!!
cruzdreamer 01-12-2004, 12:32 PM Great game...I like Favre but it's nice to see the Pack get beat...Favre was looking too cocky and his hail mary throws finally caught up with him. He does have some good receivers though and that is why many of them were caught in the last few games! Just a gal who enjoys football too! I am in Chicago so I am a Bear fan....hmmmm.....maybe next year, huh??? New coach soon.
MEGAREDS 01-12-2004, 04:14 PM They broke my heart in 1980... I ain't ever going back...
Speaking of heart breaks, Tug McGraw did it again last week. It's official - I'm an old man :(

philly8 01-12-2004, 05:26 PM I bleed green, my 8 is Nordic Green after the color of the
E-A-G-L-E-S!
After 25 years of watching this team I have learned to expect the unexpected, they never make it easy for birds fans. McNabb running, scrambling and hitting Pinkston with a dart, 4th and 26 "the catch" as we will forever call it in the Philly area, a goal line stand, field goal to tie with seconds, field goal to win in overtime with whistles going off and nobody knows if it counts or what, I cant take this sh*t. The refs knew to put their whistles away and run for the hills. If the birds keep doing this the hospitals will be full of stroke victims including me.
The Eagles are always a great ball team to watch winning or losing, but I have such a great feeling about this team this year. I will remember this season for years to come, and RX-Gr8's analysis above about the Packers stats versus Eagles stats says alot of it. The Eagles have not necessarily controlled the ball in the games that they have won, but they have such great heart to make the plays that they need to to get points on the board and win games.
Any ideas as to what the statistical analysis is for the Carolina game when their kicker shanked it every kick?
This is a season for the books that's for sure!
blizz81 01-13-2004, 10:59 AM Eagles fan since I was a wee little lad and Randall Cunningham was a rookie QB...(it was the defense w/Evans, Reggie White, Waters, Joyner, Eric Allen, and the late JB that I liked. Lots of games of tecmo bowl coming back in my memory...
The Eagles have found ways to win under Donovan & Reid, that's most important. It doesn't always work out to pretty numbers for all, but they work with what they have. The team looks to be thinning out a bit next year with free agency/the cap, so I'm hoping for the best this season.
I'm a Blackhawks fan as well, so it would take quite a bit for me to abandon any team.

Yup, that was the last time I had a reall great feeling about the team. We used to call it "Buddy Ball", and that defense was never the same after Jerome Brown flipped his brand new ZR 1 killing himself and his ten year old nephew. He went from a dead stop to dead in under ten seconds. It was one of the saddest things that I ever read.
I remember when Randall first started as a back-up for Jaworski. Jaworski was completely immobile as a quarterback at that point in his career so he would throw bullets at receivers or get hit in the poicket on the first two downs. Then when that didn't work out, Campbell would put Randall in on third down to scramble for a first down. On first down, back in went Jaws, and they would repeat the whole process. Well, there are so many memories. I won't go into them, but I've never had a season where I didn't get something out of watching the Eagles. Even when Kotite was coaching there was something to watch.
Here's to next Sunday!!!!

klegg 03-05-2004, 07:15 AM yeah! The eagles sign "the freak" but missed out on TO...they really need a WR..

So
I would guess that that is where Favre went to high school.
