cant see much. there doesnt seem to be alot of piping so i'd believe its just intake parts. can you get a closer shot ?

I got that from the boomplustoys site. i see the blitz intake in there. maybe i was just assuming/hoping there would be a compressor in there.

Oh, oh!!

I didnt think they'd use that, i thought a centrifugal was always the better option.

nice.

Not always, you can get some really good effieciency ratings on Roots and Lysholm screw type blowers now. I've seen claims of ~70% now from Eaton and others, albeit with an intercooler, which is pretty damn good.

If they used a centrifugal blower thay may as well have used a turbo. Same boost patern but better efficiency and no parasitic loss.

So I take it no one bought one, since they are available now days.... surprise surprise....

Well the ECU tuning of it is for the JDM car, not the USDM car. Same goes for the Trust Turbo kit. Better off to wait until the makers are ready to do a US release than to get one now and re-invent the wheel with having to retune the damn thing...

the kit is out and has a part number and a price:
AT- 10162 at ¥522,900
MT- 10151 at ¥522,900

Geez, sarcastic much? I don't think anyone here is in a rush to detonate their motor by putting a japan-spec turbo on a US spec car.

J-spec turbo???? what the hell are you talking about a turbo is a turbo any turbo can det. a motor if not properly tuned! all this j-spec us-spec crap makes me laugh.........who buys a turbo, peals the plastic off of it and goes straight to the track. a car that comes n/a not only needs a good stand-alone but a good shop to install and tweak! it sounds like everyone is waiting for some magical kit that you only need to buy and never have to work on...... maybe we can just ask santa to install it too:D

Who says you need stand-alone EMS for FI'ing an N/A car? Many turbo kits utilize piggyback controllers to keep the auxiliary functions of the stock PCM. However, this may not be the case if you plan on running very high boost. My guess is you're exceeding what the OEM computer can do, and a stand-alone offers the most flexibility in tuning. However, you might have to compromise some of the auxiliary functions that may be present within the stock computer.

Sorry if I deviated from the topic. :o

Anyway, I've never seen a Roots or twin-screw compressor that looks like that. Is it mounted sideways or something? It's hard to tell. I wonder what the average power gain on this car is.

Has anyone called Blitz NA to see when this will come out? I saw on their UK site that it will be available soon... I'll call Blitz NA if nobody has yet.

Thats about 5k, not bad... Looks like I may be getting this one soon...

I would be pleasantly surprised if it was $5K. The unit they have for the Celica GT-S has a retail price of $6K-$6.5K, and a street price of $5K. If it could give me 60 hp & 50 lb.-ft. of torque reliably for $5K I would definitely consider it.

Well 522,900 yen is about 4,790.00 US so with shipping and such we should be good...

If it's 40hp, I don't think that can even be 6lbs of boost. I wonder if it winds down in psi at the high rpm's like what the Pettit version supposedly does.

i called blitz like a month ago, it should be roughly about 50 hp, and the cost would be about $5000-5500. do you guys think it's worth it?

Fanman
09-16-2004, 09:28 PM
$5K for 50 hp is about as much as I would do. If it's $5500 not really. If it is 40 hp definitely not. The hassle & time to install it is bad enough.

Yeah. I'm sure with two skilled mechanics, it may take at least a weekend.

I would be interested in Blitz' supercharger, as long as it was a twin-screw.
