I recall an editorial Peter had in R&T a few years back where he correctly observed that "he who dies with the most cylinders, wins".

Accordingly, do we get proper recognition for 6 cylinder-equivalents for our 8's?

Cheers

I think we should credit for 12. After all, each combustion chamber goes through the full combustion cycle each time around. In a 4-stroke, it's gotta go around twice for the complete combustion cycle. This is why our 1.3L is counted as 2.6. 3 combustion chambers per rotor time two rotors times counting each one double equals 12 cylinders. We win!

No doubt Peter Egan is an educated guy. However, I'm very proud to say that 8's have no pistons, thus no cylinders (which are formed in the shape of a piston), and we are so beyond the cylinder obsession that troubles the fevered minds of lesser car fans. Let them worry how their cylinders convert to rotary units!

And what's all this about he who dies...I refuse to die to declare victory! No pistons, and we still kick @$$! Oh Yeah! Who's with me?!
