Well, it has been released, and of course the Nissan VQ is there (as it should be).

I would tend to agree with most of these choices, though I am a bit surprised to see the Mini 1.6L supercharged on the list. Haven't driven one, but based on tales of lag, and given that the stats and technology on the engine are nothing impressive, I'm a bit curious as to why it is so grand.

Enjoy.

Maybe we'll see rotary power there next year?

Curriously missing from the top 10: Anything from Toyota

From the article:

"What impressed Best Engines judges was the startling ease with which the Power Stroke accelerates a 3-ton pickup. In many driving situations, its awesome torque makes Ford’s F-350 feel like a Mustang."

Now that's a serious engine. And it delivers over 20mpg in that same 3-ton truck. Of course, one could argue that it's really a Navistar engine, not a Ford..........but you can only get it in a Ford. At least Ford has the sense to partner up with engine makers who know what's they're doing...like Mazda with the new 2.3L and Renesis!!!
