Kind of slick. Wonder how much the increased rigidity helps the handling (even with the added weight)? Put 180 HP or so in that and it would be a blast.

Mazda says only 22 pounds in the roof.

Yeah, you give up all the convertible mechanism so not much net gain.

I traded my '90 Miata for my RX8. It only had 116hp but it was one fast puppy.
I know they're improving them quite a bit (in 14 years), but 180HP? You would need one big spoiler to keep it on the ground.

Welcome to Mazdaspeed Miata! 178 hp and improved handling! I saw it at the Detroit NAIAS today. The intercooler is tiny, like 1 sq ft, the turbo and related piping looks like 1.5 inch in diameter and there's no boost gage. A lot of room for improvement!
