i just got a new engine... ive been getting the p0420 error code from my check engine light which basically means i need a new catalytic converter. Ive had the light on for about 3000 miles...Being thats its a new motor, Its been like that for about 2500 miles on this new motor. Can a clogged cat kill my engine within 3000 miles?? Im about to order a midpipe but im just wondering how much 2500 miles with a clogged cat affected my engine??

 

In the US the cats have 80K mile warranty..

What do you mean your warranty is void?

Anyway, yes you should still be able to get a new cat.. it is a federally backed emissions warranty, not Mazda's. I was able to get a new cat for free at 82k miles.. presumably because the dealer wanted the money and fudged the numbers.
