TX Sooo, I was gonna ask ya'll about the lack of engine power, but......

I figured it out, came back to the computer to let ya'll know that I figured it out, and never actually posted the prob;em in the first place!

Here's the problem:

My RX-8 hadn't had the MSP16 ECM reflash, due to it being 16 miles Over the warranty period, and I started to see a lot of power gone, especially in really hot conditions. (I'm in TX. 100 degree weather ALL SUMMER!)
Then, as I placed more miles on the vehicle, The vehicle started getting worse and worse. the check engine light would come on about ten minutes after I erased it, so I didn't even bother with erasing it anymore. It kept throwing the O2 sensor code. My dad ssaid it was normal, so I left it at that. Then, on the way down here from Georgia, The Engine felt like it completely **** on itself. The car, would be losing speed up tiny hills, that it would normally gain alot of speed! Even in third gear, at 4000 RPMs it felt sluggish, Almost as if I was hitting the brake and the gas. I DID LIKE THE SOUND THOUGH! It sounded like a deep, throaty, sound. Like a camaro, with pipes! I finally broke down and took it to the Mazda Steal-ership. They said it has problems with the catalytic converters. They're Falling apart and getting backed up. In turn, the Spark plugs and coils also need to be replaced. also, it needs to be decarbonized(run a $26 can of engine cleaner through it) for $800. plus the cats would be $1400. and I am trying to get somebody to create a test/race pipe for me, but nobody will do it, saying it's illegal!!

Buy an agency power resonated midpipe!

Other options include:

Exoticspeed and BHR, RX7STORE??

There's a lot of choices if you can't find someone to make it up locally, just see what kind of midpipes people are running around here..

I've got Fluid's Dual resonated, and it works well. Scrapes like **** now that I'm lowered though

How many miles you got on your car? the CAT is warrant 80K miles or 8 Years.

Also, MSP16 flash is a "recall", in the other words, its FREE OF CHARGE at ANY MAZDA DEALERSHIP

For coils, you can get them online for around 130 bux shipped. Plugs is 17 bux a piece from Amazon.

Test/Mid pipe, you can get it online from a lot of places, but u better make sure it has resonator on, cuz if it doesnt its going to be loud as #$*)!#*@!)

Everything they listed you can do yourself in an afternoon. The cat/new midpipe bolts right up, and coils and plugs are just a matter of taking them out and putting them back in...You can also get a hi-flow cat if you want to stay legal.

How does a clogged cat cause the coils to go bad? I understand that the plugs can get carboned up. But, replacing the coils makes no sense. Unless a bad coil misfire caused raw fuel to damage the cat. The plugs are also available at Autozone for $20 each. The local stores don't stock them, but mine will have it the next day.
And YES, MSP16 was a recall. There should be no charge for that service.

I just replaced the cats with a custom pipe, welded on the rx8 flanges, and cut a hole through the pipe where the o2 sensor would be, and welded a little piece for the O2 sensor to thread on, but my cel keeps coming on, somebody said something about "jumping" the O2 sensor? anyways, got back from texas to georgia fine, and with a couple of redlines, the plugs are good as new.
