Here is a subject that has kept me up at night....Who would you pick?

(IKE is not included, he has been a good sport about my polls so far, and I did not want to insult him)

I get shivers just thinking about the match race between Ruffian and Secretariat, very very sad story. :( I guess for that I pick Secretariat.

I guess I'm the only one that remembers Ruffian, or cares :(

I remember Ruffian- It breaks my heart when horses break
down during a race- It happens enough that I can't even
watch horse racing anymore.

Secretariat was a magnificant animal - such a beauty when he ran!

Secretariat wa a rare horse, thats for sure.

danger and tragedy are part of the sport, as is the beauty of the animals in motion, you look at them, and can only think that you are seeing perfection in form..

I thought of trigger, but ran out of room...need more poll spots.

Actually, Ike, that match race was between Ruffian (an amazing filly) and Foolish Pleasure (a colt). She was matching him stride for stride when she bobbled and dropped away. I knew something terrible had happened. She shattered her sesamoid bones in her foreleg but still tried to run for several strides. Such heart and talent in any Thoroughbred is rare, but in a filly it's priceless. Such a terrible loss.
