I can't even imagine anything close to that cold. It's supposed to be 75F (about 26C) here this weekend. Miata weather! But it does get down into the low 40s F at night.

Now don't y'all move here! There's already a housing shortage... and don't forget the earthquakes. :)

And happy cows make better cheese. ;) (Don't show this to anyone from Wisconsin, it's a local commercial that shows our happy cows getting off on the earthquakes. Real cute! It also shows uphappy cows from WI suffering through the harsh winters. Presumably producing inferior cheese.)

windchill doesnt' have any effect on how your car starts. It only matters what the actual temperature is.

Austin, TX is a sunny 60. Got down to the 30's during a cold front a couple of days. Not a cold temperature person at all.

Geffy, are you from the warm weather area or the cold weather area? I know a car shouldn't feel the wind factor as it doesn't build a layer of warmer air around itself but the experience tells me that a car with the nose in the wind will be harder to start then a car with the nose tucked in close to a structure .

Forget that, I'll be happy if you move here... now that I own a home, more people moving in == more demand == higher sale price!!!

I am from the North and as far as I understand windchill only effects how fast heat leaves a object (such as the human body).

That is correct, the human body will heat the air immediately surrounding himself and the wind keeps wiping that "heated" area away making the body heat the air again and so on... but my 25 years of driving in cold Mtl tells me that you better hide that car nose !
