Hi guys,

Got a call from my dealer this morning telling me that my RX-8 was 'born' (i.e. came off the production line) in Japan two days ago and will eventually find its way to my place by late February. I thought that was a nice touch, but the next seven weeks are still going to be painful.

It's Velocity Red, with the red/black leather combo, spoiler, front and rear crests and the reason for my first post - front and rear splash guards.

Am I going to kill the beautiful clean lines of the RX-8 with these? It's a novated lease, so changing the order is going to be a pain, but I'd hate to have holes drilled and then decide I hate them.

They looked ok on the black one I saw.

Great forum - a pleasure to be reading it over the last few months.

Cheers,

snoo

Haven't seen the splash guards so can't comment.

Just keep reminding yourself... it sure will be worth the wait!

Everyone has a different opinion on body kit accesories for the 8, so at the end of the day, as long as you like what you are getting, that's all that matters. I found this picture of a silver 8 on my harddrive with the front and rear splash guards fitted. If you'd like to see a red one, you might get lucky in the multimedia/photo gallery section of the forum.

The rear splash guards look quite subtle, however the front ones do look a bit bulky for my liking. It's not my car though....

It's probably also worth pointing out that even without front splash guards fitted, hardly anything gets splashed on to the side of the car from the front wheels anyway.

rx8 - smooth!

Welcome Snoo,

I have a Velocity Red car with the front & rear splash guards.
In my opinion they look fine. The reason I got them was to protect my car and I believe it was money well spent.

If you are still unsure I can take some photos showing how they look.

Either way congratulations on your new purchase and welcome aboard.

I see you call them splash guards down there, which is a good description, as they stop splashing coming up from road on the undersill, and hopefully a few stones too if you are driving on any your unsealed roads.

They dont keep the car that clean as must of the dirt on the side tends to come from the top of the front wheel well when driving in the wet. The back of the car is going to get caked in it regardless.

Cheers

Snoo,

Just like RX8 Smooth I have them on my Velocity Red car and i think they look ok. I also have the rear spolier and strakes.

Can't make up my mind whether to get the crests though....
