i know, i know. OBX is cheap crap. No need to burn me up on that part of it. Anyways, i bought it to go with the greddy SE cat back and the sent no gaskets or anything so i said fuck it and through it on anyways but im having a pretty good exhaust leak. What are my cheap options. Can i get a gasket??

did you reuse the oem gaskets?

Felpro makes sheets of high temp gasket material. I used this on my turbo for my talon and it worked perfect and withstood high temps.
I found it easier to use the old gasket to make a new one though.

wow, ummm. my 8 had no gaskets... the leak is the connecting poit between the midpipe and the pipe that gos to the mufflers. thats weirs though. my 8 had no gaskets on either side of the midpipe but the bolts were tightened so much we had tu cut them off..

autozone sells this copper gasket maker. Its like a orange paste and it will harden to a rubber-like consistency and Ive used it on past vehicles and it also works really well.

the rear gasket ur surposed to take off the stock pipe, i used the pry side of the crow bar in the trunk.

i had no issue with that side at all besides my exhaust nuts falling off from me forgetting to tighten it, if u use the exasuht goo, pick the highest temp one and let it fully cure, i was being impatient and it turned to dust

What kind of flanges do you have on each end of that midpipe? If it is anything like OEM/Mazda you will need a crush gasket for the front and a "donut" for the rear. I may have those for you.

BTW, unless you have a turbo system you don't have a "downpipe".

o sry bout the down pipe then. i meant the pipe from the headers... but ye, its like stock. i got this ring lookin thing. i feel like an idiot but i went through the packeging and found it plus some bolts. so where does the ring go? also i bought a generic gasket for the header side of the pipe. thx.

The rear gasket is a tapered "donut"-looking thing. The front crush gasket is a skinny ring.

More lingo; a header typically has equal-length primary pipes that lead to a common collector. Your factory exhaust manifold, if you still have it, does not. Thus it is still a "manifold", but a pretty nice one anyway. ;)

I never knew that. I feel like an idiot, lol. So that ring just fits around that smaller pipe that goes "into" the manifold pipe? and by front you do mean manifold side?

Well, we are hear to teach ya. ;)

Yep.

Front=front of car, manifold side.
