Very light, around 18 lbs per wheel (as compared to the 22-24lbs for stock wheels), in addition they are 1.5 inches wider than the stock wheels.

Lighter, wider, whats not to love?

They are actually pretty cheap when compared to other lightweight performance wheels also.

Lighter, wider, cheaper :)

Strong, light weight, good looks and inexpensive. The only downside is lots of people have them but if that does not bother you then no biggie.

i agree with the OP.. the only rpf1's that i really go nuts about are the black editions. Yeah they're light.. and they're cost effective, but they're SO played out

Not sure what you agree about with the OP. He is not sure if they are light weight and thinks they are expensive.

You know they are light weight and are not expensive :)

i can understand that it may not 'look cool' because they're played out but fact of the matter is that the wheel offers great specs + they're cheaper compared to most wheels w/similar specs. IMO that's the real reason why people go gaga for them, not because they 'look cool' but because they are 'cool'

18x9.5 +45 weight: ~18lbs for ~$1300?? Sounds cool to me...:D:

Grassroots Motorsports ran an article a few years back where they were listed as recommended budget track wheels, due to light weight and fairly strong (forged-rim). They are also fairly easy to keep clean (not a lot of fancy metalwork you can't get a wash mit or brush into easily).

They're pretty much the best cheap wheels you can get. Anything less doesn't belong on a sports car.

The 18x9.5 has proven great success for the rx8 for many reasons.

1 - The RPF1 is the lightest quality wheel you will find in its price bracket, period. Nothing more to say there...

2 - The price of the RPF1, if compared to comparably strong/light wheels, is very very inexpensive. Enkei is a reputable company and the wheel is very light - it competes with the likes of Volks and other racing wheels. Though the RPF1 is cast and not forged, it still has proven very strong!

2 - The 18x9.5 +45 is a great plug and play wheel for the rx8. No modifications required and you can fit a 275 rubber in every corner. With many retailers offering this wheel setup with tires to the rx8 community, with the above facts, you are bound to see people loving them!

One thing I really don't understand when people say RPF1's are sexy and so beautiful. Personally, the rpf1 is a very plain wheel without any elegance, almost ugly. The RPF1 is a bread and butter type wheel without much beauty however the wheel has presence as function>form so when you see a car rolling on RPF1, you know they are serious about performance. The aura of the rpf1, for me, is what makes them desirable.

see i really don' t like the way that car looks, but i am sure it is the color and everything... i have seen this wheel on a few cars and like it... 275's would be awesome, great handling, will these work with s-tech springs?

Its galaxy gray. Its okay though. I <3 haters.

Yes. You might want to think about rolling your fenders though with 275s. They clear but better safe than sorry.

If you like fat girls than your going to rub.

1. Light weight
2. ( fixable)
3. Cheap for that weight/material
4. Good vision , can clearly see the whole brake
5. Well say on all magazines, more than 50% of track cars using the RPF1

Lol, I was about to say the same thing.

TopGear8

They are cast but they are so light because of their MAT technology they use. Look it up if you guys dont know what it means. Just because something is lightweight does NOT mean its foreged :)

Brian Goodwin
09-02-2009, 11:27 AM
That's right, the MAT production results in a grain alignment similar to forged....but it is not forged, nor is it regular cast.

Translation: You get the strength and exceptional low weights without the cost. And that's why it is my favorite bang for the buck race wheel.

BTW, after months of wait....we finally got more black yesterday.

My rpf1 wish list includes 17x9.5 +35 In SBC finish. I am not a huge fan of black wheels on red cars. When I a ready I will buy them from Brian. He has treated me very well in the past.

I would go with the 17's not for the price of the rim but for the price of the tire.

u are right about the function>form, as my reason for these... personally a SSR/BBS kinda guy, but got these for a specific dual purpose use and ended up really liking the look. it somehovv retains a hint of rotary in its rim design... lovely!

these are very mild and doesn't "scream" for attention in plain silver. something i like about it...

don't look for these to "set your car apart". styles and the "in" thing changes constantly, but form and function NEVER fades!

taste is very subjective... so if these aren't right for you, then get something you like. in the end, thats the only thing that matters.

It doesn't matter how many different cars i see RPF1's on i still think they look the best on an RX8. I think the simple design of the wheel looks good on our cars because the rest of the car's styling is so drastic.

Here are mine :)
