very nice, very clean! What a great choice on the upgrade. And yes you have now dropped your balls. You will find during ownership this is a amazing work of art.

As dozer said and beat me to it Welcome to the Addiction. It really is. When I first came on here he said the same thing to me, I didn't understand it at first. But now I do... As for mod's well read around the tech forum and see what you can dig up first before making new threads about "what mod's should I get" or you will get flamed.

Since you are new to the rotary world. Make sure you redline your car at least once a day. It helps clean out the carbon inside your engine. Too much carbon in your engine = dead engine. Make sure you top off your oil every 3rd fill up. Rotary eats oil by design but really not that much. 1 quart should last you between oil changes. Lastly make sure you change your oil between 3000-3500 miles no later. Also start using a minimum of 5w-30 oil. Rotary needs a little thicker oil in order to lubricate the Apex seals correctly. You will learn about this over time. Synthetic oil is fine make sure it is a widely known brand and is "fully syn". Brands such as Mobile 1, Castrol, Royal Purple are the main 3 we here at the club use.

I will help you out and list a few basic beginner mods.

#1: Driver Education - Learn as much about the car you can. Also learn how to drive it properly. This car in its stock form is very fast. There are many people who have FI 8's that just can't keep up with regular N/A's on track. Comes down to driver training and education. Best mod ever...

#2: Clear Corners - You can go with the JDM stock style or the new style rotaryfx.com has created.

#3: Intake & Exhaust - Main purpose = Sound... Yes you do receive some as I said "some" increase in hp & tq.

Intake:
The best intakes are proven to be 1. AEM/MazdaSpeed CAI, 2. RacingBeat Revi with RB air duct, 3. or here's the catch Stock air box with a k&n filter and racing beat air duct. If you want the crazy sound AEM CAI best way to go, If you want most power go with the Revi. If you want to save money and get equally the same power get a k&n filter and RB Air duct. I prefer the 3rd option as its cheaper and gets the same amount of power as an CAI and the money can be spent else where on other mod's. You can always get a CAI on a later date..

Exhaust:

Mainly for sound and looks check out www.fluidmotorsports.com for all the main selections for the 8 and youtube for the sound clips. I prefer going with Racingbeat for that smooth deep sound but yet not too loud or raspy.

Midpipes would be your best bet for added hp/tq for the exhaust system. It add's anywhere from 10-20 hp depending on your intake and exhaust setup. Say you were to go with the AEM CAI, RB catback + midpipe you will be looking at around 22hp for that setup. Its not much and its a pretty penny. Should run you anywhere from $1200-1400.

#4: AFE Short shifter - changes the way the shifter completely feels, and makes it much more fun. One of the best mod's you can get for the 8.

#5: New sticky tires! - Believe me getting good summer sticky low profile tires will change your acceleration and handeling a great deal.

#6: Suspension mod's go a long way but learn the car first and read up on the material on this site before you starting adding to the car.

#7: ECU/Tuning: Cobb AP tuned by MazdaManiac best power mod period for the N/A 8. Read about it in the Tech forum.

#8: FI (Tubro/Supercharger): Read about it before you ask questions, don't even worry about it untill you know a good amount about rotary engines and you are very comfortable with your car.

Have fun with your car. Enjoy every moment you are in it. Welcome to the club and don't be a stranger get out to the local meets!

Great looking car! There is a great group of Mazda owners in NY who will be happy (I'm sure) to start steering you down the path of modifying the hell out of it!:) Good luck w/ the car and hope to see many pics in the future.

I was just listing basic mod's and the most common. He should learn a little more about the car before purchasing the BHR ignition coils. Their great and on my list, but they are a pricing mod. So for someone starting out they can get other basic mod's taken care of first. And when he hits 30k he can purchase BHR coils when the originals are about to give.

Very nice purchase, it's a world apart from most car out there, which you will find out. Good to have you and like it's been said a redline a day makes the carbon stay away. and it's just damned fun to do.

Is it just me, or is the entire interior silver/grey as well?

Where in NYC are you?

Welcome! I'm from NYC also! How could you park the rx8 on the streets of NYC? I could never do that with my RX8. BTW, where in NYC are you?

im from manhattan. interior is black.. dunno why it looks grey but it looks nice ha. i dont mind parking in the street because im pretty well known in my neighborhood (not in a bad way) and people probably would shoot out the tires if they saw my car moving without me in it lol

little about me: im 24yo paramedic with the fdny in the bronx. was into hondas for like 8 years.. considered my self pretty knowledgeable... but all i know about rotary is what ive learned off google. and i used to mess with an rx7 shop in jamaica queens called T&R racing

Welcome tekk220! As you can see this is a pretty cool community. By in large all these guys are car enthusiasts first and foremost...sure we each have our own tastes and leanings, but we all know a cool set of wheels when we see it and are quick to give them their due. Simple as that.

This forum is so cool in fact that I don't even own an 8 anymore and I still hang out here!

Let the addiction begin! :)

huh???

JinDesu
08-29-2009, 09:02 PM
huh???

Premix is to add lubricants (or additives, or cleaners) to the fuel before you gas up. Take a search on this forum for more info (just search Pre-mix, should be the first thread up)

A common suggestion is to use Idemitsu racing oil + FP+ cleaner to help lubricate the apex seals directly, and to clean off carbon.

And yeah, I thought your interior was grey. That'd have been seriously awesome...

Nice to know that we have another clean RX8 in the NYC area. I have been to T&R a few times, not for any work on my car though but just dropping by with my friend.
