You still need to document the changes, especially with this economy. Mazda is challenging owners heavier than ever on warranty replacements. Not much you can do about the previous owner's records, but certainly keep your own.

I find it easiest to go to mazdausa.com and go to Owners. You might have to create your own account if you have not done so already. From there mazda keeps all your service records under your name if the car was brought into for service. It lists everything the dealership has done to your car. And you can also submit your own records, such as oil changes, brake jobs, and tire replacements. Thats how I keep track of my records on mazda's website so whenever that day may come they can pull it up off their own database and limit the confussion.

I've done an account on MazdaUSA, but what requirements are there to put up your own records? I've long tossed out the receipts for my engine oil and filter, is taking photographs (dated) and stuff like that enough?

There are no requirements to put up your own records on MazdaUSA. I do that for the piece of mind incase something were ever to happen and they wanted proof of oil changes. I don't have my receipts for oil/filter either. But I figure since I lost them why not submit the record and miliage done on their website. Its more of a way for me to keep track of everything i've done in a layed out environment. Im also just to lazy to create a spread sheet...

I believe that stuff is good enough. Since you change your oil every 3k miles and god forbid you have an engine problem. Whoever the tech maybe most of them all know what good and bad oil looks like. Most chances are your oil will look pretty new if its less than 3k miles.

I went to MazdaUSA owners section for the first time in over a year. I guess I need to update that stuff.
