A medical prescription. The symbol "Rx" is usually said to stand for the Latin word "recipe" meaning "to take." It is customarily part of the superscription (heading) of a prescription.

Another explanation for the origin of Rx is that it was derived from the astrological sign for Jupiter which was once placed on prescriptions to invoke that god's blessing on the drug to help the patient recover.

The myth is that the X stands for experimental or export, but actually it's just the Mazda naming convention and does mean sport, along with MX (Mazda sportscar) and CX (crossover sport maybe). The R does stand for rotary though.

not a myth actually. It does stand for Rotary Experimental. It's a carryover from the original designation. As explained to us by the former head of Mazda engineering at the Sevenstock X banquet when he was recounting the development and racing history of the rotary. :)

I like Rotary eXperience. But some of of the owners hit with mechanical disasters might say "Rotary eXasperation."

I'm with this guy. All my years reading about rotaries, even in the FD days, I have read the Rotary Experiment but later found it was a myth. I can't remember where I read about it just being a naming convention like MX and CX, etc. But that is what I recall as being the most legitimate answer.
