I just purchased my 8 not too long ago. I found out more people has praised me rather than trying to race me ( coming from a lightning yellow owner here :D) already I had 3 other fc's passing by giving me thumbs up for the ride. My two cents so far the reliabilty of the car is still a question, piston vs rotary is an ongoing debate, but one thing is for sure a definite upside to purchasing the 8 is the tight knit community of other rotary/mazda owners and you cannot get that with any other car out there.

There are other cars out there that have the same kind of comminity, you just don't realize it because you don't own one of those cars :D Regardless it's a great feeling to have a community like that rather than to be pissed at the two people in front of you with the tan Camry just like yours :p

I haven't run across enough other rotaries to start noticing any waves or thumbs up yet... ...but IkeWRX is right - certain cars have there own "club-like" following. Whenever I drive my MG, other MG, Triumph, Austin Healey, Jaguar (older models only) drivers always wave.

I was test driving and a older fellow in a white rx-7 gave me a thumbs up and it felt good :) I think while every car has a community, some communities are more closely knit
I go to land rover sites and people say they always get waves from other rovers on the road but I never get any at where I live cause almost everyone else who drives one is a poser =p

Pretty cool, interesting interests too.

I had a '67 MGB once. Nice 'n torquey 'n raw sportscar.

Later!

ps, you need to update your "favorite websites". :)

I always try to wave to fellow rotary drivers and if given the chance like to chat it up with them as well. I can't wait to start getting to 7 and 8 meets as well.
The other cars I have owned with similar responses from fellow owners were my Porsche 944 and my Datsun 280ZX Turbo.
