View Full Version : 2005 Supra?? Rx8Past 01-05-2004, 07:29 PM Anyone seen this yet? http://www.topspeedtuning.com/articles/11_03/05_supra/ lourx8 01-05-2004, 07:40 PM The one at the bottom looks pretty cool, like an Aston Martin. MikeA 01-05-2004, 07:45 PM Awwwww I was get set on buying an 8 at the end of this year, but I just might have to get a supra! Outlaws eXtreme 01-05-2004, 07:54 PM Wow, thought you already owned an 8 MikeA... since you helped install the Billet thingy for MikeB wasn't it? mental pimp 01-05-2004, 08:00 PM nice find, the only thing i dont like about it is the front, its hidious Rx8Past 01-05-2004, 08:11 PM Originally posted by MikeA Awwwww I was get set on buying an 8 at the end of this year, but I just might have to get a supra! Wow, you don't own a 8? I thought you and mikeb both had one. We'll you still got the r/c Originally posted by mental pimp nice find, the only thing i dont like about it is the front, its hidious yeah, I dont get whats up with the pointy front ends, the new rx-7 looked like it had the same thing. Anyways, the front is fuggly. h0rde 01-05-2004, 08:45 PM jeez i still can't afford a 95 supra, let alone a 2005 Ike 01-05-2004, 09:15 PM I've heard other rumors contrary to thos in the link. Mainly that it will be quite expensive and will be more in the vette-viper range and category. I've even heard 75K for the V8, but I don't believe that one. It seems Toyota would be wise to jump into that 25-35K market with the new Supra, but I hope they don't compromise it in any way by doing so. The Legend of the MKIV will be damn tough to live up to, which might be why Toyota is keeping this whole thing very hush hush and seemingly taking their time. Sin 01-05-2004, 11:54 PM Heard the US wont get the V8 at release and the turbo will be around 50k...thanx for the pics. I need that car. fan 01-06-2004, 12:03 AM hmmm... they blocked that link at work for some reason... will have to check at home ;) midniteblue 01-06-2004, 12:11 AM i heard somewhere that toyota will introduce the new supra as a lexus model hmmm, it will be interesting to see some real pics of it and i do hope it comes out soon another8owner 01-06-2004, 01:35 AM i admit it, i would trade in my 8 for the supra especially if it comes out as a lexus model. h0rde 01-06-2004, 02:53 PM Originally posted by another8owner i admit it, i would trade in my 8 for the supra especially if it comes out as a lexus model. i probably would too, i'd kill for a mkiv as it is Outlaws eXtreme 01-06-2004, 03:39 PM If the Supra was the same exact price as 8, maybe I'd consider it. But since it's worth more, and we were comparing the 8 with more expensive cars, I'd trade my 8 for a Ford GT or Viper GTR. Ike 01-06-2004, 06:33 PM Originally posted by Sin Heard the US wont get the V8 at release and the turbo will be around 50k...thanx for the pics. I need that car. None of the rumors and reports I've seen say much about a turbo, it seems Toyota is goping N/A to keep development costs down and for emissions purposes. It's a shame, the Supra really needs to be a turbo :( Roar 629 01-06-2004, 07:10 PM 350z is n/a, the 8 is n/a now the supra should be n/a also.. this will make the ppl thinkin that the turbo version may release soon. rx-7~rx-8 01-06-2004, 07:37 PM The Toyota Supra and Lexus IS300 will share alot of things in common... mabe even looks... becuase the 2005 IS300 will come in Sedan, Coupe, and Convertible... so im quessing that the IS300 Coupe will be the next Supra. Rotary Nut 01-07-2004, 09:08 AM Looks like Toyota is returning to their roots. The pic of the front in the mag looks just like the front end of the old 2000 GT. said7 01-07-2004, 02:36 PM The bottom black one looks awesome. We can only hope. Rolland 01-07-2004, 03:11 PM Why would they release a Supra in the 20-30k range, when your higher end Celica runs 20-25k? centri8 01-19-2004, 08:49 PM Saw this on another forum. Toyota is not bringing back the Supra. Just wanted to share. __________________________ WardsAuto.com, Jan 16 2004 DETROIT – Bucking a trend that has seen Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. revive its legendary Z car and Mazda Motor Corp. wow the market with an incarnation of its rotary-powered RX, Toyota Motor Corp. says it has no plans to resuscitate its Supra heritage. http://wardsauto.com/ar/auto_toyota_wont_bring/index.htm Efini 8 01-20-2004, 06:18 AM seen it last year... people say they have blueprints of the supra engine... hahahahah they say the supra will have the tundra v8 engine... OH LIKE that hasnt been done yet... (a lot of drag supras use that). but please... having the v8 in a car will violate the GENTLEMEN'S CONTRACT in Japan which limits cars to only 280ps or something like that... s13lover 01-21-2004, 07:12 PM I remember reading in Road and Track several years ago that Toyota was going to make a $100,000 mid-engine supercar to compete with the Ferrari 360. Dookie_Rx-8 02-05-2004, 12:28 AM I heard the 2005celica and mr-s will be in its last year and JUST MAYBE toyota will replace both cars with the supra as their sports car and of course the scion will be there also. WELL think about it if the 350z,rx-8 are here in the $30g range the supra has to compete with that price to stay true with the orginal competion between the 300zx,rx-7,3000gt Dookie_Rx-8 02-05-2004, 12:32 AM now we need the rx-7 , supra, 3000gt and it'll be like the early 90's again am i hearing more chatter bout the supra, must mean something JmurphRx8 02-05-2004, 09:48 AM I wish toyota wasnt' so hush hush about the situation...I think it would be a smart move to let the buyers know whats up for the future before they go out and purchase an other car. Theres no need to be this secretive about the car chinx 02-05-2004, 10:11 AM toyota annouced that they won't revive the supra due to the "instability" in the sports car market despite the current renaissance. then again, mazda said they're not bringing back the rx-7. i don't think you can trust anything they say zerohour 02-05-2004, 12:58 PM Weird actually i think the look is really really bad this info has been floating around for the past couple years at least since i got my RSX in 2002. I think its not going to be anywhere near the glory days of the supra they should even change the name. Astor 02-05-2004, 01:54 PM Originally posted by midniteblue i heard somewhere that toyota will introduce the new supra as a lexus model hmmm, it will be interesting to see some real pics of it and i do hope it comes out soon If this happens, it will ruin it, just like Nissan is reinventing the Skyline as a Infinity (G45 I believe) and importing it to the United States. BTW, the Supra is a Celica, just a different trim package (although the bodies don't look the same, but they do look close, especially the GT model comparing '95's which are the ones I'm most familiar with). My best friend has one a '95 and it says so right on the title. They did at least quit calling them Celicas and developed unmistakable differences after the late 80's. It's just a matter of the EPA and red tape where they can't put the same type of performance in a car destined to make it to the USA. They had to drop so much of the performance from the early to mid 90's due to emissions,(removed 6 speed, put it back, removed TT in California) unless they've developed anything drastically new, any Supra sold now would pale in comparison to the former models, and wouldn't be much different than the current Celica GTS. As ever tighting emissions get more and more intrusive, the high performance cars that will sell, will be 4 banger turbos. Sorry to rant, I like my friend's Supra, but we're friends, therefore we have to belittle each other as often as possible, the only reason I know anything about the car is to rag him, and same is true with he and the 8. I just refer to his car now as the Super Celica.
