What would you like to see in the next generation RX car?

What would you like to see in the next generation RX car? Please, no completely unrealistic one. We'll assume the engine as 16X producing around 250hp-300hp.

Here is mine...

- weight to hp ratio at 10lbs/hp
- some Porsche GT3 like seats with holes for 6-pt harness bar
- still 2+2
- 17 inch wheels (lighter, cheaper tires than 18 inch ones), but 9 inch width

- cheaper than current price
- a stripper version: manual power steering, windows, no sun roof, but with A/C
- rear spoiler standard equipment
- Nissan 370Z like rev matching transmission

Moderators: please move to general discussion section.

I want there to be 2 rx vehicles. I want an RX-5 Miata, and an RX-8.

RX-5 Miata should be <2200 lbs, 2 seats only. RX-8 should be <3000 lbs, 2+2.
Both should have:
- 16x powered
- 50/50 weight distribution
- bulletproof 5/6 speed tranny
- NO 370z rev matching
- NO paddle shifters
- Better coils
- 18" or smaller wheels, no 20".
- Separate oil for the OMP (can use either 2-stroke or regular oil)
- Optional supercharger
- Stunning good looks ala the current rx-8

It's too costly to ship out a hot Japanese girl with every purchase, that's why the send out touch-up paint instead.

I'd say it would be nice to have a SOHN like adapter so you can add your own 2stroke.

Also, a 2 seat and a 4 seat version would be quite awesome, though looking at the current sales, I can't say they will justify that at all.

I honestly can't say I'd complain if they only came out with just the 2 seater option, due to the increase in acceleration, handling and fuel mileage. That's 3 things everybody wants in a car.

some ppl need 4 seats and still want a sports car
for me:
-2+2
-16x engine
-some sort of sports trim that has MORE horsepower (aka supercharger or turboed)
-NO revmatching
-NO auto
-more than one rim choice!

I know you're asking about more specific features, but...

As much as I'd like to see the rotary gain popularity, in today's green environment I just don't see that happening. I mean the Hydrogen rotary is a nice idea and all, but I don't see that coming to the real world any time soon. So...

Mazda should not try to market the next rotary (niche) vehicle to the masses. They really need to focus it more towards enthusiests. People buy the Z, people still love the RX-7, but the RX-8 sells like crap. I think they need to return more to an RX-7 mentality: Smaller, lighter, more of an uncompromising sportscar (most likely a 2 seater). But keep it simple, no expensive or complex FD type of turbo system etc... we're also in a weak economy so people need to be able to afford it (probably about the same price range as the RX-8, slightly above the MX-5).

Mazda would be smart to offer a nice somewhat light weight car with decent NA horsepower that is easy to mod for additional power. Then the tuner community and the general masses are happy.

Go speak with Ford or Chevy - those should come with a Mustang GT, Camaro SS, or Corvette.

Little bit larger, like an suv. Need to develop the rx8's backseat practicality, and extend even more practicality! 3 or 4 rows of seats even.

Of course, engine needs to be smaller and lighter to keep the light midship feel, perhaps a Renesis-lite. Around 900cc, 100-125 hp would be fine.

That would be a sweet rx9. Almost too much for Mazda's "z__m z__m" advertising.

It would be 0-60 just as fast as other cars on the road, plus armchair racers could claim it handles great in the "twis___s"

Such a monster would provide unsurpassed "total driving experience", perfect "50 / 50 weight distribution", plus boast a "built from the ground up chassis" that even draws comparison to the vaunted government issue schoolbus.

I want to see a turbo on the next gen rx8.

I am almost 99% sure I will not be buying another Mazda when I shop for a new car because Mazda does not care about power in their cars.
