can anybody recommend a good wheel refinishing shop in the san diego area to get it repaired?

(i did a quick google search...thought i'd give u guys a try too.)

I kerb it once... Have a sight dint. Touch it up. Now unless kneeling down. You can't see it. Most of the wheel shop can do it unless the dint is very bad

(Some) discount tires shops in San Diego send out to a wheel repair shop in El Cajon -- you could find them in the yellow pages. I also found a couple hits from google ("wheel repair") in Ontario (some ways N of Temecula) and Orange County. Either of these places fully back their work for your 100% satisfaction, so they might be worth the travel/shipping.

I can tell you at discount they will charge a markup to be the go-between -- it ends up like $100 or more. Depending on the extent of the damage, you might consider the touch-up idea for a while. Repair shops will end up repainting the entire wheel, even for slight rim grinding repair, and may not completely match the paint so well (think a shade or two too dark here).

At this price ($100+/wheel) I might consider waiting until it's time to get new rubber, get slightly wider tires, and look into polishing all four (& shoot with clearcoat). I know having 205/50/15s on my stock miata 15 rims save me from curbing the rims several times ;)

i was thinking of getting them all stripped and refinished at some point anyway so i may just wait until i do that...or until i get new rims. ;)

anyway, it's more of a nuisance than a priority. and after the holidays, i need to chill on the spending for a while. (although i did just get my $500 AMEX card...hmmm...;))

dont even trip man! I spun out drifting and curbed then bent my lower rear passenger tie rod and screwed up my alignment. So dont worry!

Hmmm, thanks for that link. I curbed my rims once, in the stupid drive-through at MickeyD's, and used part of that procedure; I CAREFULLY sanded out the damage with 600 grit auto sandpaper and a little scratch remover/rubbing compound. Then polished up the spot with regular car wax to get back the shine. My repair isn't as invisible as that link, but you don't see it when you look at the wheel without a magnifying glass.

Got a slight nick in one of my wheels - kind of like a rock strike. Requires more like a spot repair - not sure if I would need to go thru the procedure that Kap posted but if I had the correct paint, I think I could probably try a repair like posted on another thread, sort of fill it in with a couple coats of touch up paint. Any suggestions on color? The silver WURTH wheel paint was mentioned in the repair link and also sunlight silver in another - are these available in stores such as AutoZone?

Someone in another thread mentioned the Sunlight Silver paint is an exact match for the wheels.

I have verified the sunlight silver at a dealership. Anyone can do it. Just walk up to a sunlight silver car and see for yourself. It's a pretty close match.
