No, TNC - we are not trying to copy you guys -_-. We just need a place more realistic and efficient for us NYer's that live on Long Island (including Queens and Brooklyn).

OK, so instead of crapping in the other "Official NY" thread. I decided to start one for us to discuss about a possible meet for us in the LI, QN, and BK area. Obviously the prefered points are in QN and BK because we already have a meet in every other other area. Around Westbury LI, Staten Is., NJ etc... They all have their own meets.

Now here is a suggestion from me. There is a place in Bensonhurst Brooklyn near the Verrazano Bridge called Ceasar's Bay. It is a large parking lot for a somewhat small mall strip that includes Strauss, Bestbuy, Toys R Us, Modells, and Kohls. It is right next to the water. It is located next to exit 6 on the Belt - Bay Parkway Exit. The place is quiet and peaceful on every night except friday night. That's when a local ricer car meet is held. It gets wild with ricers pulling stupid shit and undercover cops start to raid every vehicle in the lot. So friday is out of the question.

Just so everyone knows. I personally prefer going to a meet without people pulling stupid shit like burnouts and things alike. By no means am I interested in wasting my time with that. I don't feel like being pulled into other peoples business when they get in trouble and we happen to be in the same group.

i dont care who really come to the meet, tnc who ever...... im just there to see other 8s chill, learn and meet.....

I'm not sure which one that is, but the BestBuy meet that has been mention quite often is more than an hour and a half from me (and that is without traffic).

right, even though I'm in Queens the LI meet is quite a trek..

even factoring in the toll and gas it's "cheaper" to go out to East Rutherford then to drive out there.. sucks because they are really a cool bunch of guys :(

anyway, I definitely agree we should get a TRUE NYC meet going.. maybe something like Flushing Meadows park? Got a bunch of lots there, just not too sure about the local police.

there are other lots also.. having a car meet at that lot would (in my opinion) draw unwanted attention..

LOL let's get things organized first before we hold a meet. How about selecting a place first and then selecting the date a week or two from now?

By doing that, it will allow us to get more people aware of the meet and to make sure the place is good for the long run. We cant keep changing spots.


edit: I am not familiar with Queens' lots. I know evo's, STi and G35 mini meets are often held in the Caesar's Bay lot in Bensonhurst Brooklyn. They usually have no more than 12 cars and they just park on the side to chill. I have never seen cops bother them on everyday except Friday. Cops are usually cool if you're just standing there in a bunch talking with the cars parked.

that's a good 20 mile drive for me. that's how much i drive for the Islandia meets, so i'm down if it's bi-weekly

i suggested the lot behind the ice sckating rink in flushing meadows park. i love that spot because its on a hill from the park road and because it would be a good photo op. plus what queens resident doesnt love looking at the unisphere?? lol

as far as cops i go to that spot about once a month atleast and ive never seen cops there. but aslong as we dont start shit like many have said than i think we'll be fine. and most ricers usually go to Astoria pool from what i know.

and like someone else stated, flushing meadows park would be a good spot because its not too far a drive for most LI 8's and especially not a far drive for NYC 8's and we dont have to pay tolls!! :)

p.s. there are speed bumps so be careful!!!

Shouldn't be that long SNTP, took me about 30 min to get off the Verezzano into that same area. Just take the Belt East till JFK, then take the Van Wyck up to the GCP and the flushing meadows park is a few exists off the GCP.

The only caveat about having the meet there would be that there is little to do, like food and stuff...

well like gh8st mentioned, the islandia meets in long island are wednesdays.

i think it would be best to have this meet on friday, saturday, or sunday. mostly cause i think if would be better to space out the local meets evenly so that its not overwhelming for some. plus members from other meets including the LI meets and TNC meets could come by our meets.

Douglaston Movie World has a multi level lot with a starbucks;) Rain won't be a problem there. It's right off Horace Harding Expwy

How bout more than 1 location for the meets that way its about equal distance for everyone. if everyone get together we can look for places in Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan so that way everyone gets that one week meet not to far from their homes. Just curious on what you guys thought about that.

Its no use re-inventing the wheel. Plus IMO if you love driving your car it doesnt matter where the meet is... I've went to LI, NJ, Queens, up state NY, yet i live in the BX and have never had a meet in BX.

You best bet is to have a local meet spot every week..... then from that spot you caravan to other meets rotary and no rotary related.

THe Infiniti Guido35/37 guys usually meet there, along with some euro, evo, and Impreza guys. Plenty of ricers like you mentioned.

I went to Best Buy to purchase something with the Infiniti, and got caught in the chaos. A few cars were racing up and down the busy lot and doing burn outs. Police quickly blocked off all parking lot exits.

It is definitely not an event I would like to be around. Douche bags doing stupid things in a some what busy shopping strip means nothing but trouble.

Got a question for you fellas was wondering if i can get some help. My 8 recently started turning on the TCS Light i think its called ( little swerving car ) and the ABS light randomly. Any ideas on why that is or has this happened to anyone else. It doesnt do it all the time but frequently enough where im getting worried. Any Ideas ?
