We'll be there a little early, probably around 6. Free food and cheap beer!!

How do we find each other- just hang out by the cars in the parking lot?

Well if I just got out of my car, there is a tell tale grin on my face :)

I will have the printer next to my clinic make us a banner (small).

Technical Response: The current stylistic design trends result in a "thick" look from the side, a failing for most contemporary sports cars (look at the 350Z). While the RX-8 suffers less from this than most, many people believe it can be improved by stylistic elements that lengthen the lines of the car by breaking the large expanse of flat sheet metal on the side. Strakes help to achieve this.

Pin striping can also be used to achieve this but I believe the few attempts at pin striping of an RX-8 have resulted in execution of the car owners by members of the RX8Forum.

Short Response: They look cool :).

Hahahah..( answer to short responce)

From a Japanese sports car enthusiest stand point. (responce to the technical answer)

In the Japanese market performance vehicals are not realesed with PIN STRIPES or SIDE STRAKES. In keeping with the styling in those markets strakes should not be considerd appropriet additions to the RX8 styleing.

Considerations will be made for body kits, side skirts and certain perfomance wings.

Tastefull additions should be cross-refrenced with past RX stylings and modifications for enhancements of the RX8 appearance.

And strakes were never in the equation.

9-K Rever

P.S..

I feel like we are discussing a breed of dog for AKA qualification.

msrecant

Seriously, my main interest in strakes is that they look unusual and they are big enough to be noticed (unlike wheel centers or rotary accents). Not something that you regularly see on contemporary cars.

I have not been a fan of traditional style enhancements like airdams, aero kits and wings (although the RX-8 wing does look good). The result is a little muscular for my taste. For some reason the retro look of the strakes appeals to me. Since Chirorx8 and I are the ones interested in strakes, it may even be age related.

Just remember, there is no accounting for taste :).

Famous Daves BBQ. Topeka Steakhouse

Oh, sure, dump it on me. O'Charleys is okay, I guess..but can't we come up with something a little less generic? Do you guys like Japanese? Sakura in the Babys-R-Us parking lot is almost NEVER busy, and I'll bet they'd love to have a big group come in. Depending on how hungry everyone was, we could even do a hibachi table.

Heck if anyone has any kids to bring we could go to Chuckie Cheese. BTW, it's the CarMax Marketing Department's fault you can't go in to that CC unless you have a kid now- we kinda took it over for a coworker's goodbye party two years ago. Oops.

I am cool with Sakura. I know a some peops who work there. How about there is only one Japanese person in the whole place..

But, from a quality stand point...I am not too thrilled with them.

But, what you say about the lot and parking is right on the money.

And I would love to see CHIRORX8 go through the ball crawl at Chucky Cheese.

We could go across the street to Akida then, instead. What was wrong when you went? Last time I was there, the salmon I had was the freshest, best salmon I've ever had in Richmond. Perhaps one of us went on an off day.

Weeell, you also have to understand I used to live in Japan for a while and my girlfriend is Japanese...so my taste buds are realy sensitive to poor quality Japanese food.

Akida is not much better.... I would say for Richmond if you want good Japanese food you have to go to either KOBE or HANAZUSHI..

Wich aint fantanstic but respectable.

Hahaha, you know how much I hate Pho. I think Akida is a nice suggestion. If you want to be able to see your car while you eat it will have to be like a fastfood place. And I know we don't want that.

How about.... Mekong? Or Tai Dinner? Or Champps at the new mall.

Nooooo Mekong......

Hanzo
01-22-2004, 04:23 PM
Good thing about Mekong is there is a big parking lot in the back so we can hang out at the cars. Also they have capacity for large groups of people.

Oh, and the food is good.

Tired of Mekong...Lets do Japanese either Sakura or Akida...I say Sakura if I had to choose.

In that case pretty much anything you get in the US is pretty crappy, isn't it? We have the same problem with Italian food, since Steve used to live there. There just isn't anything close to it, really, except sometimes Pasta Luna.

Not realy, any place that has a large population of Japanese like California and New York you can get the real deal. But, alot of Japanese resturaunts are run by Korean or Chinese because they can get the food realy cheep.

I am from NY and I used to go to Japanese resturaunts and Ramen shops all the time, and it was authentic.

Richmond just doesn't have the pouplation.

But, if you guys wanna come to my place I will be more than happy to have all of you come over. My girl can make sushi.

Pleanty of parking too.

Tobbaco Row is a nice place to throw a party!

Hey guys did you download that RX8 Tech Highlights CD from the forum? I did it took me 12 (and I have cable) hours but I got the whole CD on my hardrive and its AWSOME. Let me know how many of you are coming to the meet tonite and I will make copies. Its something any RX8 owner should have.

Also you can take a Mazda RX8 certification quiz when you finish watching the CD.

Does it have the proper towing instructions for Tick?
I would love a copy.
I will try to make it tonight, depends if I turn into a pumpkin.

Something someone should do:

Collect money
Buy FSM
Scan FSM into .PDF format
Distribute to all of ya :)

Where exactly at Short Pump are you all meeting up? I've only been there twice...not big on shopping. ;)

Neither are we...we just got kicked out of everwhere else..

Behind the Dicks Sporting Goods store in the far lot..you will see alot of cars in a row. Rangeing from WRX's to S2000's To Evo's and a black RX8 with the 9-K Rever Plate.

Don't want to charge for the CDs.

But, I will take a beer!

As I am coming up from the Deep South, can you give me an idea of where it is located?

Take Parham to Broad ST. turn right (towards town), the first shopping center on your right is it. Look for Staples and Books a Million. It is in the center of the strip center.

It is very close to Capitol Mazda if anyone needs spare parts hehe

If you pass Outback you went too far

8pm is fine with me.
