View Full Version : Vibrations: bad engine mount symptoms?

So I just got my car back from the shop after my accident about a month ago. I was driving it, and noticed these symptoms:

1) While the engine is in park, neutral, or idling in drive, there is an increase in vibrations. It's enough to make the glovebox rattle a lot.

2) While the engine is under load (normal driving), there is no increase in vibrations.

I saw that a lot of replies for engine vibrations are to change the coils, change the spark plugs. Can anyone give me the symptoms for those?

The reason why I believe it's the engine mount over the coils/ignition is because my car only has 1800 miles on it. Admittedly, it's an 06, and I do not know if coils/ignition degrade when unused. Also, the accident I had leads me to believe impact has caused damage to the engine mount. Does anyone have additional insight into this?

I'm bringing the car back to the shop tomorrow to do that. I wanted as much info as I could get on this issue so I can explain it to them. Thanks for your input.

Remember you have to drive the car a few cycles for the ECU to re-program itself.

What RPMs was that car idling at?

Cold start 2krpms. After the engine was warmed, around 800-1000rpms. That hasn't changed from before the accident.

What is a few cycles? On off cycles?
