Stuff like this is dangerous. Next you're going to want the real deal and before you know it you'll find yourself having $1000 in RC equipment :p

I've got a closet full of trophies at my mom's house from racing 1/12 electric on-road cars 20 years ago. I wasn't all that good but they gave lots of trophies :p

I doubt my stuff still works and I've thought about getting back into it but it's a money pit.

Ya Mike that doesn't seem all that far away from what you really drive. You would need a new wing ... carbon fiber hood ... and a few other minor things!

I got the sickest RX-8 :D

Hi all:

I got in my Jada R/C 8. I couldn't stand all those stickers on it so I removed all of them except the Mazda stickers. Love the "clean" look. Could stand to lose the BAW (big-ass wing), but other than that it looks pretty cool. A 1/2hr work peeling and using goo-gone to get the car nice and clean. Check out some of the pics:

PS there's a slight picture of my RX-8 cube in the background my fiancee did up for me

Also, I know this hobby is just a money pit. My brother is really into it, and has a nitro r/c lambo that he has spent like $700 on the car and parts for upgrading it. His goes about 40 or 60 mph.

Mine doesn't go that fast is just a battery powered r/c.

I also like the two RX8's that have all the stickers removed. I am going to take all my stickers off and lower the spoiler. I post good pic. soon!

I have done some modifing to the ride!

1. Took off that damn black kit......
2. Took off most of the decals.......
3. Painted the front (med.) grill to black.....

I tried to lower the spoiler, but I couldn't do it easily. So I stopped before I messed up the car.

guys I bought one at the auto show too.. I have a question:

Does it make any sounds? Wasn't there supposed to be a simulated engine noises or something? Not sure.

When I brought it home there was something rattling in it, so I turned it about to see if it would drop out. Did no good so I unscrewed the bottom and lifted off the cover. Low and behold it was a piece of epoxy glue that had fallen off one of the wires.. Let me tell you it was a mess in there. The wire gluing job was REALLY bad as there was epoxy threads and globs everywhere. Lots of wires weren't even stuck on right. I cleaned up the mess and noticed there was a free plug from the wiring harness. I looked for an additional connection somewhere, but there was none. What's it for? I wonder.....

BTW, When I bought mine, it was from the booth behind the JADA Toys booth.. It cost 59.99 + tax. Then as I walked off, I noticed the same car was selling in the booth directly across from the Jada toys for $50. DOH!!! Oh well, not like I was about to shop around to save a few bucks.

Lastly, I wasn't too happy with the quality of the toy. The wing was very loose, and so was both rear view mirrors. I asked the guy if the steering was proportional, and he yes. But it wasn't. Even some of the adds claim the steering to be "semi-proportional". Whatever. Neither was the accelerator. On/Off. That's about it.. I was surprised there was even a reverse, but fortunately there was.

Anyway, prospective buyers beware. The quality of the assembly is CRAP. I plan to fix mine up.

Hmm, I was planning to buy one, but Squidward's post has changed my mind. Eventually, I was going to take out the electronics and motor to replace them with some spare kit I have lying around. I wonder if you could just buy the body as a spare part, so I could attach it to another chassis..

I think HPI came out with a RX-8 body recently in 190MM. The Jada is just a toy to mess around with. If anyone is serious about RC cars there are much better ones out there albeit more costly.

MikeA
01-05-2004, 07:56 PM
for $60 bucks is pretty cool....but it is just a toy
Not a R/C racing car that you can modify for compitition...
I will also be getting the HPI body and making a nitro powered R/C car.......

You have a PM i3man.

It seems RC racing is much cheaper now than it was 10-20 years ago, at least compared to 1/12th scale where you could spend thousands on just trying to get some decent battery packs if you wanted to be competitive. I wonder why 1/12th scale faded away... ;)

yeah, like some people said, it's a toy.
The body is not designed as a standard cover for real RC racers. It's made of typical toy plastic, not the typical super strong lexan that real RC bodies are made of. The formfactor is not the same either.

It's a toy, nothing more. Still cool to own if you're an RX-8 fan. It does go fairly fast for a toy though.

Want to race??? LOL J/k....

XDEEDUBBX
01-06-2004, 04:19 AM
how'd you take off the kit??? does it come right off? or should i snip it off wiht pliers?

MikeA
01-06-2004, 04:25 AM
It is very simple to do.....

1. just unscrew the body from the chasis
( on the bottom ) 6 screws

2. then just unscrew the kit from the chasis
there 6 or 8 screws and then just put the car
back together and your done!

I wasn't wanting to turn the thing into a proper RC racer, it was just for the body shell.. For me the HPI shell isn't detailed enough, I wanted something a little more detailed. Probbaly wouldn't fit, was just a quick thought.
