View Full Version : Was this anyone? Button Willow
SpcyMSP 01-02-2004, 06:42 PM Went to Button Willow Raceway on Dec 20th for some fun. And 2 RX8s were running with us. If so, you guys looked good, and here is some shots of your cars in action.

syntrix 01-04-2004, 01:32 PM Nice pics!! They surely are on stock suspension!
8_wannabe 01-04-2004, 02:01 PM Do they have classes there? I drove by Buttonwillow over Christmas but didn't know there was a track. I'd go up for advanced driving lessons (not racing, but handling courses.)
syntrix 01-04-2004, 08:55 PM I'm supposed to be there with the dub crew on the 17/18th. Don't know if I'm going to make it though.
SpcyMSP 01-04-2004, 09:25 PM They have the classes every other month or so. It is $175 for the whole day, but $155 if you sign up with our group. They book fast, so sign up early. If you want the group discount, register under "CLUB MOCC". For more info see ButtonwillowRaceway.com, and click on Performance Drivinvg clinic, or PM me.

I checked out the website. I can PM, but I'd rather correspond via the forum so others can see this info.
I have rudimentary stick skills, taught by my gf like 25 years ago, and refined over the past 5 months in my '8 after years of driving auto. I feel very comfortable with m/t, but have no "performance" skills per se. Am I at the right level to participate in the Buttonwillow performance driving clinic?
SpcyMSP 01-05-2004, 12:06 AM Yes absolutley. The instructors are there whenever you need them. I have been about 8-9 times to this clinic, and by the second time, I felt really comfortable on the track. First timers at the event go through classroom techniques as well as lots ofon track time.
The main thing I leared at the driving clinics was how to hit the apex of the turns correctly, and come out with plenty of speed. I always go back, and all the instuctors seem to know me and my orange car very well. I reccomend this class to anyone who is looking to fine tune skills, develop then, or just want to have a great time out on the track.
8_wannabe 01-05-2004, 12:43 AM Anyone know of training like this closer to San Diego? I checked out the El Cajon speedway website but didn't look like they go it. I will go to Buttonwillow for this if necessary but it's like a 4-hour drive away.
SpcyMSP 01-05-2004, 10:02 AM I live in OC, and everytime we go we usually stay in a hotel up there the night before.
SPD-FC 01-06-2004, 02:51 PM We used to have holtville for us san diego folks but right now it is not running.

8_wannabe 03-25-2004, 01:39 PM Back to Buttonwillow -- I've signed up for the May 9th Performance Driving training, along with my buddy who'll be in a 6. He wanted to bring his Miata, but they require a rollbar for convertibles which he doesn't have.
Anyone else going? Let's rev it up at Buttonwillow and learn some great driving!
jeamland 03-25-2004, 05:21 PM I live in PB and I'm interested, but I'm busy on May 9 :(
Maybe we could get a regular San Diego crew together to do the trip, Let me know how it goes and I'll definitely join in next time :)
8_wannabe 03-25-2004, 05:31 PM No prob, jeam. I will post a critique of the course here after its done. I'm def looking forward to it, esp after some good driving at Rev It Up last week. What a blast!

Don't forget Willow Springs. 186 miles from San Diego; about a 3 hour drive. http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/
I'm very interested in the May 9th date but won't know for sure until next month. Keep us posted!
