i actually have a pretty big back yard, but i wanna keeps thing as close to the wall as possible..

right now i have an avocado tree, a lemon tree, and a pomegranate tree, along side a bunch of flowers and couple of cacti (nopales in spanish, my mom loves that stuff)

Farmer boy!

Dozer, if you want to grow a garden you have to prep a bed. Best to start out deciding what you want to grow in the space provided,( choose things you like to eat so you wont waste them) . Once you've done that, research the type of soil they do best in, acidic, and such. Find a HD or Lowes, and go get whatever you need in the way of mulch, compost, ( black angus cow manure if you can find it) and potting soil, and mix it all up. You might be able to get tomatoes this year, maybe summer squash but that needs room to roam since it's on a vine. Certan peppers as well. Check out the seed packages or plant info online to find a peak fruit season. It is going to cost you to begin with, but next spring and summer, you'll save money.

You might decide to build your bed this year, and grow next. Hunt up JT, he's an expert in my book! ;)

My dad tilled about 1/2 acre for watermelons. I hope that they produce well.
