For example...mine was produced in June of 2003. I picked it up in November. I'm curious to see if anybody had a car produced as close to their pick up date as possible.

Mine was born 6/26, and I picked her up 8/8.

Is there any way to tell or estimate by the VIN number?

erm built may25 or was it may29? picked up july 15

Ok, so 2 months about average. Mine must of sat on the lot for a while. Either way it's been good to me. It had 11 miles when I picked it up.

p.s. Mine was not a pre-order.

Build date, the RX-8 birthday (now I try to celebrate this everyyear) - 30.9.03. Shipment date: 7.10.03 from Japan. Docked 25.10.03. Picked up: 31.10.03... oh man it only had 5 km on the odometer when I got it. NO ONE except pre-delivery guy (Chris) and the sale manager to drive from pre-delivery to sales port (which is 200m).

If you look at the sticker inside the driver's side door it tells you month and year of manufacture.

Manufacture date 11/03 purchased 12/03. 4 miles on OD when purchased.

Mine says 10/03 and I took delivery on December 8. Three miles on the odometer at purchase.

I finally figured out how to tell on the new one, lol. It's on the sticker.

Aug 2003, 62 miles.

Mfd 10/3. Bought 11/29. We found ours in the back where they had just parked a new shipment. Plastic wraps still on the inside and bird (seagull?) crap on the outside. My wife rejected the "dirty green" color. After they washed it it passed aesthetics police inspection. There were 3 miles on the odometer when we found it, 18 miles (the additional all ours) when we bought it.
