After countless hours at the dealership I took my baby home saturday night. Monday morning i start her up and the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealership tuesday and they said the two of the spark plugs were bad, they replaced them and everything was just fine. I took her home and no problems. That night i started her up again and there it was again the beautiful check engine light came right back on. Needless to say i was pissed off.... i went to the same service writer first thing in the morning. After about two hours of waiting the head of service broke the news that the entire engine needed to replaced due to a leak in the second rotor. In the end they sent me the same exact car i couple of days later with deep regrets...

Has anyone heard a similar story......

Sorry to hear, are they telling you 2 weeks for a replacement motor or what?

There's been other threads on this. Try to do a search.
Again sorry

You legally have 5 days to return a car you purchased (from what I've been told).... Can anyone else verify this?

Some places have a return policy, but most don't. Check your lease/installment contract- they usually state something about "no cooling off period allowed."

You got a lemon i guess :/

It depends what state you live in, Florida has no return policy unless the dealer advertises it, such as Rick Case, who sucks anyway! Jeff: out of curiosity, where did you buy your car?

Jeff: call the State Attorney Generals office, tell them you just bought it and haven't been able to drive it yet, tell them after buying ,you have no car in which to drive and you want your money back or for them to give you another new car! That really sucks. Any reputable business would not put someone through that. Call the owner or General Manager of the dealership as well. a lot of times they have no idea whats going on when someone screws up!

Damn, that's the pits. I wish I could offer some constructive help, other than: stand your ground!

You should avoid the headaches and get some other car that won't break down after a few days of ownership...

Stock and equivalent driver, a 3000 lb car with less whp (i would like to applaud mazda for fudging up numbers) beat a 2800 lb car with more whp?

Stop dreaming and wake up :o then again, in reality, you probably encountered a not-too-great driver...

The S2k is a fine car... So is the RX-8. They are different if you want to I will be happy to cream you with my '91 575hp MR2. Oh wait I sold it after getting pulled over while racing a Mustang 5.0 supercharged and winning. The ticket was for 120+ mph since the officer couldn't get up to my speed to pace me. In fact the only reason he caught me was that I didn't know he was there and got off the 101 in Newbury Park, CA. after winning. He and I both knew I was going in excess of 160 mph but he couldn't prove it... There is always a faster car and a better driver out there. I wonder if you could handle the stress of driving above 120 mph for long enough to beat a good driver. It doesn't really matter though you should just stick to talking about the RX-8 on this forum though and jump over to the Honda forum to do all of your blasting... Talk is cheap.

I own two Honda's, and I have owned two RX-7's. When all is said and done, a Honda is just a Honda, and well an RX-8, oh mama! Now that is a car that gets the heart going.

Jeff, I too go to UCF. If you've seen a winning blue around since early fall, that's me... And I grew up in s. florida (in weston for about 10 years) too. We should chill or something...

Also, what color 8 do you have?

I'm glad you liked Gunther...from my personal experiences, they stink. Kinda got screwed by them...I go to marlin mazda on 441...great ppl. Anyways, when you get the car, you thinkin of doin any mods?

The honda is just a honda but at least it starts, right?

I think the comment about the guys s2000 being a girls car is a bit silly.

I personally would rather have a car that attracts women rather than men, but to each their own.

I think rx8 owners tend to be able to dish it out but they can't take it. What difference does it make what car he owns or whatever. Is this an open forum or is it just a forum for you people who can see no wrong the in the 8, even if it sits in the driveway or at the dealership waiting to be fixed. Grow up a bit. So many rx8 owners on this forum are so defensive about the car that it appears they are trying to convince themselves that they made the right decision. I owned one, I recognized that it had some problems and wasn't in my opinion what I paid for, so I took it back. Good for you folks that kept yours. The s2000 is a fine car, probably is better quality than the 8 but I personally don't want one. No big deal. Lighten up folks.:D

Ok, here are my 2cents. The friend I stayed with in Tucson owns a nice yellow S2K. Both my 8 and his S2K looked beautiful in the garage together. The biggest complaint I had for the S2K is that there is no space. Small trunk, no back seat. Drives like a dream, but no tire rotation. So that costs them big bucks. They like the 8. Thinking about getting one themselves.

Oh and when we went to dinner, we all go into the 8 since we could not get 4 people into the S2K.

I love Hondas, but I really love my 8.

in california at least, there is no "cooling off" period. i learned this the hard way. you can't return cars once you take delivery here.

the s2k is a better performer and more reliable, but a tiny two-seat, convertible roadster isn't exactly interchangeable in purpose and function with an rx-8.

Hey Strong Bad....I dont live in Central Florida anymore...I live right by Weston if you ever come down...as far as the mods..dont think so im all my experiances with changing a cars parts in the long run has created more of a headache than anything....ABOUT THE S2000 THING....i think it is a great car, my mother drives one, these two cars are not two that can really be compared...two totally diffrent cars...Yet, i do think this is a forum that discusses the RX8 and should stick to just that....not making threats about one car VS another....some grow up later than others

I purchased my winning blue 8 last month at gunther..everyone there seems nice...even the manager was nice enough to come out and talk to us while purchasing....the other mazda..on the other side of 441...maybe it's marlin...not sure..anyways...we were there for a while the same day..and the manager never showed his face..and he didn't budge with pricing at all...they were horrible..

glad they fixed ur situation...who needs headaches...
