So about 2 weeks after just buying my rx8 a guy backs into my car. Very small damage. About inch worth of a little paint scuffed and the plastic part has a small bump in it. I went up to get the estimates and its gonna cost around 750 to replace the whole bumper. I was wondering if its possible to just keep the money and then use it towards a body kit :D

 

yeah go for the body kit its cheaper in the end. Oem parts are pretty expensive.

 

So they will do that if i just request for them to write a check to me and ill take care of it when i get the time?

 

well does your insurance cover the damage? The guys insurance? should have him pay the cost.

 

Get an MS bumper....

 

I had a MS bumper and replaced mine with stock. I think the bumper is the worst part of the MS kit. That sounds about right for a new painted rear bumper.

take it to the bodyshop I work at and it'll be around $200
That wouldn't be the whole bumper painted. but.. It's blended seamlessly

 

Maybe in Canada...

Labor rates around SF Bay Area are US$75/hour. Taking off the bumper and doing nothing else would be that much money.
