I'm in Michigan, and I'm thinking about buying an RX8 from California. Wondering if there are any differences between those sold in CA and in the rest of the country/world. I know the emissions requirements are different, wonder if that caused Mazda to change something on those vehicles. Want to make sure that I won't be buying a car that's hard to sell if I choose to do so later one.

Also, if there are exhaust differences for example, is it enough to make it worthwhile to replace the exhaust? For better performance? (At this point, I don't plan to mod the car beyond what's legal.)

California has the strictest emission standards in the country and such car buying power that the emissions controls built into the vehicles are typically applied to all vehicles sold in the US.

You should be fine.

California cars to other states piece of cake. Its the other way around that's trickier.
