Ok guys, I'm starting my own thread about this. My drivers side HID bulb was out so I picked up some new 6000k bulbs and started the to replace them (removed wheels, liner, etc. and soon found out that the bulb was not out and that the drivers side HID is out. I tested the bulb from the drivers side in the passenger side and it worked fine.

I have done a little research and found a guy selling the ballasts out of a pair of broken RX8 headlights. The ballasts have a Denso/Koito part number of KDLT002. I did an Ebay search for that and found that this ballast is used on Lexus', etc and can be had cheaper than for the 8. One guy wants $100.00 for one brand new and the used RX8 ones go for $120.00. So do you think they all use the same bulbs, wiring, etc?

I will just be pissed if I order a new ballast and that's not it. But if everything else is working it has to be that right?

The ballasts are the same. It's just the bulbs that are different in the way light is projected but same base/connector.

Thanks, I ordered it so it should be here soon. I just have to remove the headlight and swap out the ballast. I'm wondering If I should order one for the passenger side as well just in case it goes out.

if you ordered one part to save 20 bucks I think ordering two seems counter intuitive to your original goal.

It wasn't just about saving 20. I saved 20 bucks and got a brand new ballast as opposed to a used one. I'm just now wondering how much life my passenger side ballast has left in it and the guy I bought the new ballast from only has one new ballast left.

Okay guys I finally got the Ballast in but FYI, you have to dremel your headlight to get the wire and connector into the headlight casing because the connector that goes to the HID bulb is too big to fit through since they do it before assembling the headlight. But its just a slit and the you pry it open enough to slip the wire in and the RTV is shut. I didn't wanna do it but baking the headlights was too much of a hassle. This is just a pic I found on the web for reference since I forgot to take pics when I was doing it.

But the Ballast worked great and my HIDS are working awesome. Only problem I had was that the 6k bulbs I bought were pieces of shit and would only work for five minutes so i had to put the stockers back in. But that is what i get for buying cheap bulbs off the street.

What's the bold/italicized part mean? Will the dremel cut cause any issues with moisture getting into your headlight?

Nope, mine has not leaked. As long as you RTV it, it should never leak.

holy thread revival !

off topic : our cars (or any Japanese cars) share a lot of parts ... for example the MAF sensor on our car is actually the same as the one they use on Toyota Camry, Lexus, etc etc ...

Toyota parts are every freaking where so its super cheap, you can even get one that's made in China for 15 bux a pop.

Just 0.02

Yeah, that's why you check the model and brand of the ballast and get the exact same one.
