This is a DIY for how to remove the foglight housing and the bulb reflector.

I wanted to remove the bulb reflector inside the foglight housing because I wanted my foglights to project further and brighter (like our Euro brothers). I'm also running modified H11 bulbs in my foglights so that I have more lumens compared to the stock H9 bulbs. There is a DIY for this mod on the boards too.

I don't know if this has been done before but this how to is strictly pictorial. I don't know why I can't tag these photos in the DIY section here, but it's annoying since pictures are worth 1000 words...

Good DIY..

Oh, and take the bumper off if you are too lazt to take the wheels off?

If I remember correctly, the bumper is a much bigger pain.

Nah.....just need a flat head and a screwdriver compared to jacking up the car takin the wheel off and unscrewing those annoying wheel well clips.......just my two cents :)

Removing the front bumper isn't too difficult but I would strongly suggest that you follow the above DIY for just removing the foglights because it's less less time consuming and easier.

As for the clips? I hardly find them annoying if you know what you're doing.

nice instructional, was needing to replace my driver's side foglight and this provided a good reference for removing it
thanks

I've been meaning to do this, I was going to bake em open and unscrew it though. Maybe I'll do it this shortcut way.

Good DIY!

The top screw is a bitch tho, I had to undo half the front bumper to get my hand in to get that screw off.

My passengers side stock H11 fog-light bulb is dead, and needs to be replaced. The manual says to crank the wheel fully to the left, and remove the grommets in the wheel well, and peel away the shield to access the fog-light assembly. But it seems like it would be difficult to access the fog-light without removing the wheel.

Has anyone here replaced the fog-light bulb without removing the wheel?

yes i had to replace a light not even a month ago. all i did was jack the car up, turn the wheel all the way to the left, undo some pop rivets and there it was. its a pain tho. i would recommend taking the wheel off.

taking hte wheel off is much better than cranking it "out of the way" - its a major pain in the ass that way cuz you can't get up there to work on it.

anyone know if this mod is "illegal" aka would result in a fix it ticket? I've got some LED's i wanna put in that are just a hair too long to fit in with the reflector there.

thanks

It's not illegal as long as the color is legal. The Euro spec cars don't have them from the factory.

yes i always just "reach around" from the front middle and twist and remove the light bulb, be very carfull if you seriously nick the bulbs they will burst. good luck.

Just did this to my car today, and I was very happy with the results. I lifted the car up and removed the front tires to do this. Total time on this was 30 min. Really easy to do, especially with this "How to" write up, which is really well done BTW. I use the H11 bulbs and the difference is remarkable. Good write up!

did it, like it, done. my only advice is wear some gloves. i got a few little cuts from getting the reflector out, it gets sharp once destroyed lol.
