Took me a few minutes to understand what you were saying but by page two... I caught myself laughing at how pathetic people can be to others they don't even know.

Yes he was a friend to most until he felt the need to start lying and telling everyone he owned cars that he did not and then to even offer to sell one to a fellow member that is just nutso.

He has started lying to you guys also saying he has bought a challenge Stradale and that he had owned a 360 coupe (wrong) 512 (wrong) but he did own the 308

Word to the wise we live in a world where the Brooklyn bridge was "sold" 3 times by the same guy- anyone can be scammed if they believe that the "too good to be true" deal is the real thing & is being offered to them for no obvious reason

Just a quick heads up to all you fine RX8ers: Matt is a total liar, fraud and has never seen a 360 Challange Stradale much yet has "picked one up at LAX". The original pictures were of a car actually delivered to Miami. Yes, Mr. Phibbs himself, has owned a Ferrari in the past. A 308. The "other" 360 Modena was for sale by a friend, but matty couldn't pucker up at the last moment and lost the car.

You most likely are not aware of the two other Ferraris (250, 512bb) that Phibbs has blately lied about ownership over the internet (and lost PLENTLY of respect and close friends in the process over at the Ferrari shine).

I've seen the picture of the stradale he posted elsewhere too- can't remember what forum- may have been the car & driver boards. But each to his own- whatever makes him happy- you can be anybody you want on the internet.

Maybe "matt" was having a mid-life crisis, followed shortly by an identity-crisis. He needs to seek help

Matt was the one person that would bust chops on everyone when there was a hint of BS in the air. He would not stop hounding someone till he had ligit proff of ownership. So, in the long run, it bit him.

I thought things were a little off about his car collection. The 308 seemed believable. He even had pics of his family to prove it.

When I saw the thread about the 360 Challange Stradale I thought it was joke. I then realized he was attempting to be serious and I believed that too.

It is kind of sad that someone had to lie about there cars. He seemed nice enough and a 308 is damn impressive to me.

Oh well.

Wow, that thread over on FChat is booming. Seems he's gone back and is claiming ignorance. Maybe a moderator can compare notes with an FChat moderator on the IP from his most recent posts?

I just read the entire thread on FChat, my eyes hurt but I think we have a winner :D

Compare the ip's and you know it but after all (as long as those aren't any mental long term issues), it should be all good if he can stand up to it.

I'm myself not long enough on RX-8 to make a true statement regarding the issue as I don't know him and haven't read many of his previous posts. Kinda sad story, yet interesting.

Successful people are often admired for their possessions, and their successsfulness in general, but what Matt doesn't realize is that you don't need either thing to be admired. I would have admired him just as much if he simply had a strong interest and knowledge of those cars.

I'm going to use Wakeech as an example, I hope he doesn't mind. He doesn't even have an RX-8, but he is a leader of this forum and seems to have an incredible knowledge of not only that car, but also many other automotive issues and modifications. I strongly admire his tenacity and knowledge, and respect him for his honesty.

I don't think admiration and respect were enough for Matt, though. He wanted envy. You generally do need possessions for that.

Very good point, I agree with you 100% about both Wakeech and matt.

The strange thing is that he really did own at least one Ferarri.

It really does not make sense, but madness usually does not.
