What kind of deals are you getting? I'm thinking of buying one tonite or this weekend. I know I can get MSRP, but im curious if anyone has gotten Invoice on a 6 speed model.

You should have no problem getting one for invoice+a few hundred. Depends on the package you get, the more options you get, your price will get closer to the invoice price. I just got mine for $550 over invoice, base+sports package+spoiler+rotorary accents.

I think that you can make a great deal either today or tomorrow as the end the year as well as the end of the month are here. I know that the dealer that I purchased from last week was trying to meet a Mazda Quota. I paid S-Plan which is just under invoice for mine.

I bought it at fremont mazda. was at walnut creek mazda first and the dealer decided to help someone else and was like "Im gonna help this guy now, feel free to ask any questions".

For those of you who paid some $ amount over invoice, were you then charged additional fees such as Advertising cost and Destination charge on top of that? Are these types of fees just wiggle room for the dealer or is it a legitimate cost for them to charge?

And, what is "S-Plan"?

Destination is standard on any car, infact its on the window sticker printed by the manufacturer. I was not charged any advertising fee or anything other than $250 over invoice.

I paid a $150 fee which is part of the invoice as received by the dealer from Mazda. Two dealerships claimed to me that they didn't know what it was for - as for the sales manager at Sunnyvale , I insisted I wouldn't pay any freaking extra fee to him - he said it was a San Jose area port fee, or some nonsense like that. I finally gave in to it at Menlo Mazda however b/c they came in $500 better than the best offer I had gotten. Afterwards, I called in to a couple other dealerships to find out what the hell it was and they said it was an advertising fee that is a non-negotiable part of the invoice. Go figure.

$24,988 (before taxes and fees) for a 6-spd base.

most dealers in SF will at least cut you $3k off MSRP. just check in the Sunday paper and you'll see at least one dealer advertising this for all 8s in stock. take the add to other dealers and they should match it or better it.

$3K off MSRP would be for a GT only I think. Otherwise you are talking hundreds below invoice. I was at Sunnyvale Mazda 2 weeks ago on a weekday night and they told me they would sell me a loaded Titanium GT w/ Nav and 30 mi on the clock for $500 under invoice because it was an "ad car". Meaning Mazda was paying them $500 to specially advertise that car with the caveat "only one at this price" which I'm sure you've all seen before in car ads. They were going to put that car in the paper for that weekend, but as long as I was there they were gong to sell it to me. I declined since I need one w/o a sunroof.

Hmm, weird.

Though I live in Fremont, I've stopped by the Fremont Mazda a number of times to oogle but I just don't like the feel of the place. I tend to dislike sales departments that play the 5k markup (over MSRP) game just to force you to sit and "talk deals".

I'm actually driving up to Walnut Creek tomorrow because they've got the closest to the right color/options car that I've found online in the area and when I called and asked what they're selling for, the guy basically came out and said 3%-7% over invoice and they're happy.

Let us know how any service work you get done in the area goes zerob. I've a long history of very bad luck getting cars serviced so I'm definitely doing my research before picking a service department I'll trust.

Just got my 8 from Royal Mazda in SF yesterday :D. They are taking $4000 ($3500 Royal Mazda rebate and $500 college rebate) off all in stock RX8s! I paid well below the invoice price, and there is no hidden fees such as that weird $150 advertising fee :confused:. Ask for the Internet Sales Manager, Anthony. He is very courteous, professional, and most importantly, not pushy!!

Walnut creek at 40 Rx-8s in stock the day I bought at fremont. He was going to sell for the same price as fremont. The problem was the dealer I spoke to...in the middle of talking to me walked away and started talking to someone else. So I went to fremont mazda.

I just picked mine up yesterday in Walnut Creek, and I really liked the sales guy. If anybody is heading up that way to look, ask for Jack, especially if zerobanger had problems with one of their sales people, you'll want to know you got a good guy.

They were going to sell at $1500 below MSRP, which was just over $1000 above invoice. They were happy to drop a little lower than that, splitting the cost of the spoiler which I didn't initially want (though now I think I'm starting to like it).

The biggest shock was a 3.94% APR on financing. Looking at the invoice and seeing far less than 3 grand total interest on a 5 year loan was a huge relief.


Now beings the hunt for the mod-friendly service manager in the bay area.

The good news is that he got a decent rate at 3.9% or so.

If by "Fremont Mazda" you mean Magnussen's by 880, they did good by us. Ask for Ralph "G.I". Joe. He'll treat you right.

And don't be shy about going home and thinking about it if you don't get the deal you like. After we left, the phone rang about maybe, ten, fifteen minutes later and the conversations continued for maybe another couple of days or so until we got what we wanted.
