View Full Version : ** Widebody in Progress **
Efini 8 12-27-2003, 04:05 PM Recently I was contracted to design a widebody for the RX-8 using carbon fiber and fiberglass. A reputable Japanese company with extensive experience in high quality carbon fiber products will be doing the construction. Most likely they will be reproducing additional replicas for the public market. I will be doing the computer drafting and or physical pencil and paper drawings to give to the company. Right now I have a few ideas and would like to ask the people most prone to buying a carbon fiber kit!
What would you like to see, what widebody kits do you like? Post pics!
brothervoodoo 12-27-2003, 05:08 PM Let's see your drawings, do you mean flaring out the back fenders like the old M kit for the BMW Z3? If done right it will certainly make the rx-8 look even meaner.
tadams 12-28-2003, 12:06 AM You will probably get better feedback by posting pics of your ideas then let everyone provide suggestions, feedback, etc

Efini 8 12-28-2003, 03:29 AM yes I have a few ideas, mainly I want the kit to provide functionality and look sporty. Similar to JGTC styling but keeping with the existing lines of the fenders.
Omicron 12-28-2003, 11:37 AM I agree with tadams, please posts some drafts and let people make suggestions.
xXcfeboXx 12-28-2003, 02:07 PM yeah post some drafts,
XDEEDUBBX 12-29-2003, 04:58 AM IMO ..i would suggest going with something like the petit racing rear fenders...when those are on the FD ...you can accomodate up 13 inches wide...
Jhouse 12-29-2003, 11:28 AM your asking a designer to post drafts of his potential design.....HA......i doubt you will get that.

Lock & Load 01-10-2004, 08:12 PM Rear wide body kit looks all right , hard to tell the lines with all the colourfull advertising .
The front wide body kit is f...ugly sorry .
I personally would like to see a wider body kit on the rear of the rx8 only .

Mrs. SHOWOFF 01-11-2004, 05:59 PM Yeah, try something like the side skirts and back bumber from the pics above, but IMO the front is too rounded. I like the front bumber from the AutoExe.
Need For Speed 01-11-2004, 07:10 PM i like the auto exe back

alnielsen 04-24-2009, 04:09 PM If I remember correctly, RMagic has a wide body kit. It costs around $5000. Check with JapanParts for info.
Rotr8 04-24-2009, 04:18 PM RMagics is more than $7K, Nakamora Racing has wide front fenders, and PanSpeed has wider front and rear fenders...
