View Full Version : Finally have my Volks mounted
dwdgsi04 05-09-2009, 12:36 AM I know I said I was going to put the wheels on once I got my Megan coil overs on. Unfortunately, after I was done getting the tires on, I didn't have any time left to pick up my coil overs from FedEx. So I'll have to do them tomorrow. And the sway bars are on back order for 2 weeks :(
So anyways, the Volks are mounted now and they fit better than I originally thought. The sizes are 8.5 +29 up front and 9.5 +48 in the rear. Tires are 245/35/19 and 255/35/19.
I was concerned that the +48 in the rear would look odd with the +29 in the front, so I bought some 15mm spacers for the rear. But after I mounted them, they stuck out too far, I'd say about 3/4" out too far, definitely would've had fender clearance issues. So I decided to try with the spacers off, and they fit perfectly.
I'll get some side shots once I get the coil overs installed.

NYC Drift King 05-09-2009, 11:29 AM Those are sexy volks...
Jedi54 05-09-2009, 12:30 PM no offense, but those pics are terrible. Take some during the day at different angles and some up close shots.
- did you stretch your old tires or are those a new?
- why only 255 in the rear on a 9.5 inch wide wheel?
- needs a drop, can't wait to see pics after your coilover install
- rear offset is still "no bueno"
Ross_Dawg 05-09-2009, 12:57 PM cant wait to see it on c'overs

Yeah, the install was finished late so I was unable to get any decent shots.
1. No, they are new.
2. I often have passengers riding in the back, so in order to prevent any rubbing, I went with that size.
3. Pics coming later this afternoon
4. Ok
dwdgsi04 05-09-2009, 02:00 PM Just return from FedEx. Here are some pics of the coilovers before I install.

dwdgsi04 05-09-2009, 08:23 PM Well, I only had time to take care of the front assemblies today. I'll have to finish the rear tomorrow morning.
But just so folks can see how it looks so far, I drove up to the gas station and snapped some pictures. Keep in mind the rear coilovers aren't installed yet. As for the front height, there is no rubbing up to this point, although the black part below the bumper scraped as I hit a nice-sized dip. I'll raise it up another 1/2" tomorrow.

Thanks.
Like I said, the rear coilovers aren't installed yet. I didn't have time today to finish :(. And I will raise the front up another 1/2" also.

a slight roll or shave should fix that problem..If it were me, I would have went with 275's or stretched the shyt out of some 245's or lower..
Ever Hernandez 05-09-2009, 09:56 PM Wheels are hot dude, congrats :icon_tup: like I said, can't go wrong with Volks...
risky business 05-09-2009, 11:53 PM - why only 255 in the rear on a 9.5 inch wide wheel?
"
I have 245's all around on my 18x9.5 wheels all around. I have s-techs and didn't want to roll.
california style 05-11-2009, 04:51 AM why have 9.5 inch wheels then?
245s fit on a 8 inch wheel, and will save you some weight!

It's all personal preference. If a company manufactures a rim in 18x8 and 18x9.5, chances are the 18x9.5 is going to have a larger lip or more of a concave shape to it's face. If the person is looking for either of those, chances are they're going to buy the one that looks better in their opinion.
Back on topic... dwdgsi04 Your car looks awesome dude!
bruce_van 05-11-2009, 03:45 PM Nice. Better get some good wheel locks if you're planning on parking outside.
I would be too chicken to get nice wheels and not be garaged. But then again, I live in the ghetto. :)
Atilla 05-11-2009, 03:57 PM Nice look - definitely a nice setup -

Yeah, the Rays lugnuts came with a nice lock and the apartments I live in have a private parking garage, so I'm fortunate in that sense.
However, shit came up on Sunday and so the car is still rolling with no rear coilovers installed. I'm busy with class all week so I won't be able to finish until Thursday or Friday...:squint:
dwdgsi04 05-11-2009, 06:23 PM On a side note, I also have the appearance package lip and sides that I was going to install...but after seeing how much I like the look of the front lowered the way it is, I think I'll end up selling them. Otherwise, I'll have to raise the car up or completely destroy the front lip.
