I have had my 8 for a month now. When i see another 8, i slow down and track it across my view just to see who is driving. I have also caught the same happening to me, err..my car ;) It is nice to drive down the road and have the attention of fans. My little grey mazda even caused a wreck last week. Some overzealous fan looked a little too long and rear ended the car in front of him. At first i thought it was hilarious. I went to work and told everyone the story. Then we all laughed about it. This kind of attention is good. Maybe not for the guy in the accord that wrecked, but definitely good for me!
On my way to work monday i was getting onto the on ramp to the interstate. There was a wreck at the end of the ramp and no one was moving onto the highway. The people at the lead were making u-turns and coming back down the ramp to take alternate routes. After all the cars ahead of me had made their turns, i made mine. As i was coming back down the ramp, an officer pulled out of line and pulled me over. He had abviously been sitting in the line a while because he was not at the tail end of it. I believe that he pulled me over because of my car. I was doing nothing out of the normal flow of traffic. Even thought the flow was going the wrong way. He wrote it for "wreckless driving with endangerment of life and property". This is a serious offense here in NC. During the stop, i was polite and considerate. At one point he asked "Do you realise that your driving record is completely clean?".. like he was surprised that someone of my age/gender/vehicle could accomplish such an amazing feat. After that he handed me my ticket. What an ASS! It was obvious in my 2 minute conversation that he had serious prejudices against something about me. I am in complete support of traffic control and that if someone chooses to break the law, they should be punished. But when people with prejudices are in positions of power, bad things happen to good people. I will get a lawyer and plead "prayer for judgement". it wipes the ticket clean but if i have any more incidents in 3 years it comes back on top of my new tickets. I dont think fighting it in court is an option considering i was going 40 mph in the wrong direction. I hope that the majority of us are not receiving this kind of attention.
