Said they recieved more passionate responses to this Autofile than any in recient memory. Zoom Zoom :) :) :D :D downshift 12-24-2003, 10:43 PM The pics are too small! If you can size it up a bit, that would be great! I can upsize the scans but it is much easier to read, or print copy from the web. Merry Christmas everyone ! Zoom49:) revhappy 12-25-2003, 02:23 PM Interesting article and the third in the last few weeks to comment negatively on the styling (it is obvious that the suicide doors and the related adjustments to the body are what this point is based on). The Fuel Economy they got was similar to some on this board - 15 MPG and they said the average of owners was 17 MPG, which is consistent with the poll taken here (are they stealing RX8forum material? p) The acceleration numbers look a bit unusual, 0-60 in 6.26 and the 1/4 mile in 14.75? Again, the slalom and skidpast test results were not that impressive, but the author definitely was impressed by the the balance and the driving dynamics of the RX8. Broker73 12-25-2003, 03:04 PM interesting article, however I noitced they have the skippad at .84g? That is the lowest I have seen it. C&D had it at .91g, and R&T .88g, a far cry from their estimates?? C&D at .91g had it above the G35? I wonder why such a difference? Could have been temperature... but who knows :\ Either way numbers don't put the smile on my face :) Speed-ER doc 12-27-2003, 10:38 AM Originally posted by Hercules ... numbers don't put the smile on my face :) Once you get in, and the car wraps around you, and you experience all the driving pleasure you can get for 30K, who cares about the numbers. JimW 01-07-2004, 12:00 PM With these cars, it all depends on the driver, weather and track condition at the time of measurement! racerdave 01-07-2004, 11:56 PM Yeah, Jim said it. If they test on the same track after many tests and no rain, then the track (or pad) will be "run-in" and have a clean surface and some rubber laid down. These times and skidpad numbers will be good. If they run on the same track after a rain or two, the surface will be "green" and the numbers will not be good for the intitial cars. Unless it's the same day and done within about 10 minutes of one another, the stats are tough to rely on. |
