For as long as I have had my 8, it has always bothered me how off the colors were in the "View on Vehicle" feature. It finally bothered me enough to do something about it and I e-mailed the webmaster about it. I expected some canned cooperate-y response, but I got this:

Thanks very much for your feedback. We use the manufacturer’s websites when generating colors, and you might be be surprised to find out how often they are not that accurate.

I’ve reworked several of the RX8 colors. I think we’ve got a better Nordic Green now. I also worked on Lightning Yellow, Copper Red, Black Cherry, and Phantom Blue. That last one seems to change color quite a bit depending on the conditions it’s viewed in. Let me know what you think.

I took a look at some of the colors and they look a lot better, particularly the Black Cherry (IMHO).

I am going to let them know that the Nordic Green (my car color) is a lot better but still a bit too... green... lol.

Thinking more about it I figured I would take a few responses from the community on the rest of the colors before I get back to him. I have never seen Phantom Blue in person and I figured someone else would have a better idea then I.

I'll gather your opinions for a week or so before I respond to TR.

lol. good job. the colors do look better. but phantom is still way off. looks more like winning. nordic is too rich. crm looks okay, and so do the rest of them.

where's the stormy blue?

That's what I thought about the Phantom Blue. I'm curious if there is a compendium of what colors were available for each year. I also kind of feel like there are more cars with spoilers than without. I wonder if Mazda has statistics on options sold each year...
