I'm just looking for some opinions or information. Some friends and I are thinking of taking a road trip after graduation to Yellowstone (mid may/early june) and I was wondering if anyone on here has camped there (tent)? We are thinking of spending 4-5 days in the park.
If so:
What camp site were you at and would you suggest it/others?
How hard was it finding a site?
Places in the park you would suggest as must see?
Suggested trails?
I am in the middle of organizing everything and just looking for any opinions from anyone who was there.
Thanks

I visited there around the 1st of July, but didn't camp about ten yrs ago. My brother, however, did camp at about that time frame some time before the great fire. The weather at that time is changeable. 70 degrees one day and snowing the next. Be prepared for anything. If your going to walk the trails, get fit. I started out on a trail to a geyser. My wife couldn't walk the 1 1/2 mile trail there and had to turn back at mid point. I made it to the geyser and met up with her before she got to the car.
That time of the year the mud paint pots should have lots of water and should put on a good show. Yellowstone Falls are an awesome site. Geysers are everywhere. Sometimes you can be looking at one that isn't active and catch one going off a mile away out of the corner of your eye. Take a moment at some of the pools and look at the different colors that are produced in the water by various bacteria that like different temperatures.
If you plan on wilderness camping, I hope you know what your doing. If you do it wrong you can damage the parks environment and create a danger for yourself due to unwanted encounters with wild animals.
