I've live in Madison and have had my 8 for four months now. So far, I've only come across one other 8 on the road. So, how many of us are there really out there?

Well, I've seen like 2 or 3 around Milwaukee... 1 yellow, 1 titanium and 1 red. Might've been others, but not many.

There really *aren't* that many in WI it seems.

I'll let you know when I order and get my Sunlight Silver and am out and about. :)

I just picked mine up for Chrismas. Live in Elkhorn, but visiting Rhinlander for the holidays, just got 600 miles on her today! Ti 6 speed, no wing or aero, 17" ASA LW5's and Dunlop M3's for the snow.

Hey whats up there wisconsin fellas. I was just wondering do you store your rx-8 during the winter ? Just how sure footed is this car in the snow we get here ?

I drive my car every day. I just put some Dunlop Wintersport M3s on 17" wheels and the car rocks in the snow.

I live in Sheboygan and I have yet to see one on the road. I plan on buying one within the next month or so, and I am really looking forward to being the only one around here with one.

Bought a set of 17 Blizzaks. Seems to handle the snow just fine. I wouldn't recommend trying anything ove an inch with the stock tires.

I'm in Milwaukee and have had my 8 since last September but just found this forum. I have an 04 RX-8 GT, 6MT, Black with Black Leather. I have about 2K mi so far and just love my car. I've seen a few around the eastside of the city (a black at UWM and silver in the Third Ward).

Do any of you guys on this forum know of any specialized rotary shops in the greater Milwaukee area?

Hello Fellas...

Live in Prairie du Sac and have seen two RX8s so far. A black in Stoughton back in early Dec and a Titanium in Baraboo in Feb. We are still getting folks walking over and walking around the car while we gas up or go into stores. Kinda fun! Just got it out of the garage last week now that things are warming up and find it as fun now as it was when we stored it. Biggest problem for me is that my wife puts 90% of the miles on the thing! On Monday nights the Richland Center DQ has a car night from about 6 to about 9. Maybe see some of you folks there once summer arrives?

Tom,

Let us know when the car night at DQ kicks off again. I can always use an excuse to get a Blizzard.

TIM-8...where did you get yours from? Since I posted last, I actually did see another one around Wal Mart in Plymouth. Winning blue, just like mine. Had Iowa plates though!

Got mine in Fondulac in September. Seen a winning blue one in Falls, would that be you? Where did you get yours?

mjd

^^^Yup...I live in Falls. Probably was me. I got mine at Amato in Milwaukee. I did go to Holiday in Fond Du Lac, but they didn't have any blue ones. I almost bought the yellow one they had, but decided against it. I was torn between blue, green, and yellow. I've had mine for about a month now. Still trying to learn the stick though, but I love the car, except for the poor gas mileage.

I have a yellow 6-speed, grand touring package on order; should have it sometime this summer.

lafrad
03-29-2004, 11:07 PM
well.. there was a yellow 6 speed with the grand touring on the Lot at Concours Motors (hwy 43 and silver spring), where I bought my Brilliant black, grand touring 6 speed :-P.

I bought my 8 6 days ago, and already have 680 miles on it!!!! :-)
Still hasn't been using much oil at all.. *hmm*. Also, i am averaging about 20-24 mpg, with some of that being a commute from Hartland to DownTown Milwaukee (30 miles, each way), in the 3rd ward.

D'oh. Probably exactly what I ordered, too! Oh well, this gives me time to read up on it here.

I've only seen one RX-8 in Janesville; it was silver, headed out of town east on County A.

Dont know why you would order an 8 around here. There are lots of them on the lots and you could prolly work a better deal on a in stock unit or one that the dealer locates for you. I would cancel your order and deal on that one at Concours.

I'm getting my 8 on the S-Plan pricing, so I just went to my local dealer. No negotiating, no hassle. I can wait a few months, no biggie. :)

Holiday in Fond Du Lac also has a yellow manual with GT package on the lot. That one was almost mine, but I opted for blue instead.

"I've only seen one RX-8 in Janesville; it was silver, headed out of town east on County A."

I have a Titanium 6m sport, live in Elkhorn, shop in Janesville and take County A to get there and back. I havn't seen a single 8 on the road since I got mine in Dec.

Maybe I was mistaken on the color? I saw it turning off HWY 14 onto County A sometime last week, I think.

Must have been someone else, I havn't had the 8 there for several weeks, but that's the route I take.

The Wisconsin club's web site is:

As far as shops in Milwaukee go, the closest rotary specialist is probably going to be A-spec Tuning in Chicago:

Hey Wisconsinites:

Kevin here. I am in Wauwatosa. I have a lightening yellow RX8. I garaged mine for the winter. Now that it is nice out, it's my daily ride. I have seen just a few RX-8's around milwaukee.

I picked up mine at Concours in late September. I had a few early problems. One was a smashed core in the catalytic converter (MIL the first day I had the car). The second was a MIL on the thermostat. They checked it and flashed ECU.

Has anyone done their own oil changes? I have and its not easy to get the car up to drain the oil. I am just a hands on guy and really dont trust anyone to do my maintenance.

Any thoughts?

Kevin

Welcome Kevin,

I just put the stock tires and wheels back on last week. I drove mine daily since December with the Dunlop Wintersport M3's on 17 inch rims.

I've used normal car ramps for oil changes. I had to use 2x10's cut about 18 inches long as little "ramps" to get up onto the normal ramps since the front spoiler would have drug on the way up otherwise.

I also had to buy a "cap style" oil filter wrench at Walmart to get the stock filter off, it was too small and too tight to remove it any other way.

Do a search on oil change and I'm sure you'll turn up other hints as well.

Okay, who was in the Black RX8 on Tuesday on I90? We met at the 151 and I 90 exit about 10 am and (maybe the same car) again near Janesville about 1:00? The black car had aftermarket exhaust and a 30 ish male driver with WI vanity plates. I was in the Titanium 8. I had just updated the stage 1 via the CZ cable and software Tuesday am and would have loved to do a 2nd or 3rd gear comparision!

WI RX8 owners. Just wanted to let you know there is a club for rotary engine owners (yep, the RX8) in Wisconsin. The website is: http://www.rxclubofwi.org/

A few of their members are coming down to this year's Rotary Revolution. You should join them and come on down April 30th - May 2nd. You'll learn a lot about your car and enjoy driving it on our three different race tracks.

Hope to see you and the other 30+ RX8's we'll have at the event.

Thanks man. Your car looked great as well. What actually caught my eye first was your rear rotary accent.

I have the Borla exhaust and love it.

Hey mamccubbin, I'm still interested in buying your stock exhaust if you still want to get rid of it. Drop me an e-mail, PM doesn't seem to be working. JLBUNNE@GENEVAONLINE.COM

Hey Mick! I have seen one other NG around town besides my own - maybe it's been you? But both times were downtown/east side.
